I’ve narrowed down my speaker options to a handful of items. This thread really got me thinking about two systems. One that’s traditional and one that takes advantage of computer audio to the max (per prof. @wgscott‘s comments). I hope to have more to reveal soon. P.S. I’m moving my listening room to another part of the house as well. Much to discuss very soon. Not even going to ask why this required two separate and unexpected rush departures. At least the food is good in NY so you didn't completely lose a week off your life. Having no idea what lies in your review queue or likely to be preempted workload. How viable is this two system idea? Forgive me if I envision doubling any commitment involved hereabouts. Link to comment

cjf
While I'm a bit biased towards the Magico brand and as much as I love mine I don't think I would choose them if I were a full time reviewer unless I took an oath before hand to never review Class D amps with them. IME, its a combo much like Oil and Water. My S3's all but refuse to play well with any of the Class D Amps I have tried with them (All Hypex Flavors). I suspect they are too difficult a load and their Elliptical Crossovers do some funky stuff to Class D amps. On the other hand, if I knew Class D was never going to be in the picture as far as Amps go I would grab a pair of Magico S7's in a heartbeat. This is the route I would go because I know I'm done with Class D Amps. 5 Non-Magico or Vivid favorites of mine in no particular order are: 1. Revel Ultima Salon II 2. Sony SS-AR1 3. Wilson Alexia II 4. KEF Blade I 5. YG Acoustics - Any of them The Computer Audiophile 1 My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment
Milt99
Way too late but I can't believe I didn't think of this before but reading Mitchco's review jogged my brain. Kii 3's plus the BXT units. If I ever have the money they're the only thing I can think of would sway me away from my Revel Ultima2s The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment

Popular Post emcdade
My vote is for an appropriate size Focal or Sonus Faber Homage Tradition. Amazing build quality and looks, and both transparent enough to let you hear review gear nuances without being annoying or fatiguing. The Computer Audiophile and Ralf11 1 1 Link to comment

I haven't a clue about the rest of your home, but I suggest a bespoke addition if you can swing it. There are construction techniques that can really help. Yeah, I know, but a man has to dream too... biosailor
Go either ATCs, Harbeth or Spendor. I very much like the ATCs, the SCM40s in particular! I recently heard the Spendor SP100R2 speakers at a local dealer and they were just spectacular! But very pricey! I am also getting interested in the Harbeth Super HL5plus. The ATCs Sound a little lean at low volumes, while neither of the Spendors and Harbeth do. The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment

rando
After suggesting Chris create a sub-basement appeared to stir something. I'm starting to get curious what this change is. The ease with which he appears to have gained WAF is most mysterious of all. Server updates are apparently happening on the East coast so it can't hardly be a dual purpose off site work facility. I flew out to NYC twice (unplanned both times) to help an audio dealer at an install. Another guy setup a terrible network that couldn’t even stream audio and caused the dealer’s network based audio products to fail all testing. Yesterday i had the network running 5 streams of 4K video over the internet and 3 streams of 24/192 audio simultaneously without breaking a sweat. Flew home this afternoon. The impact can be stunning and I’m not talking bombastic fireworks but the projection of voice and instruments. A bargain. David Link to comment
