Beautiful indeed. One of my favorite Amsterdam monuments. It's not Egyptian though, of course..

Snapped up a bunch of dirt-cheap hi-res albums from Qobuz’s big download sale at https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/page/qobuz-fest-2020 and now listening.

 

This album at all of $4.50 is fantastic in both performance and SQ.

The first one of the 14 new albums I bought at a serious discount in the current Qobuz sale that @austinpop mentions above.  
 

Among others I got this 24/96 gem, released in 2015, for €7.49. Amazing.

Got her 2020 Bach Cello Suites (24-96) a couple of days ago and also an older CD with Heinrich Schiff performing them. Two very different performances but IMO both interesting!

This album comes strongly recommended. You have to listen to it from beginning to end in one sitting.

Modern instruments and never a dull moment in this buoyant, involving, and polished performance from 1994. Not sure if I am putting it right, but I find the performers are playing for the audience's pleasure, if that makes sense, and while that shouldn't seem unusual for the ASMF, it still feels worth observing here, as to me that active intent is infused throughout.

Well worth it, a fantastic father/son performance.

My favorite recording of the Cello Suites by a large margin is by David Watkin. Apparently he has an illness that affects his playing and knew this would be his last chance to record these pieces. The recording is invested with the emotion you might expect under the circumstances. Won the Gramophone and BBC awards, richly deserving of both. 24/96 selling for $10.99 on Qobuz.
