BTW - Qobuz's price on this album is outstanding, perhaps even an error: $10.99 hi-res, $5.99 hi-res Sublime. The other usual outlets are many times more, as this is a 3-disc set, after all. zerung 1 My Audio Setup Link to comment

Popular Post sphinxsix
Forgive me Father for I have sinned.. I haven't listened to AC/DC for more than three years (I only played it probably twice as a background music during my workouts). To make things even worse I spend the last couple of days listening mostly to pre-Bach German Baroque music. In huge quantities actually. I must confess I've almost forgotten how much fun good, ol' AC/DC music is.. I've just finished listening to this mini-album in its entirety and I'm asking You humbly - please have mercy and save my rock'n'roll soul, hereby I vow to never renounce it austinpop, christopher3393 and semente 3 Link to comment

sphinxsix
Since my rock'n'roll soul is only a part of my music soul it's Mahler this time. First serious listening which wouldn't take place if it wasn't for @austinpop 's thread 👍 (24-96) zyberguran 1 Link to comment

I’ve only heard symphony 1 so far, and I already love it. I OTOH started with the 5th and just finished listening to it. IMO - a very interesting performance! Could it be that what's between the two is also good.? BTW my infallible IEMs suggest (listening to mp3 stream) that SQ may be breathtaking.. Next - a quick comparison of the old 3rd and the new one. We have Beethoven year after all Edit: seems that I may like the new one even more, but this was just a quick listen to a couple of fragments. It also seems to be better recorded. austinpop and christopher3393 1 1 Link to comment

zerung
The first time I am hearing Nicola Benedetti. I am very impressed, the timbre in her playing is quite amazing. Ok! I dont know if it timbre, perhaps vibrato, but the emotion in salut d'amour is very touching.... austinpop 1 Qnap NAS (LPS) >UA ETHER REGEN (BG7TBL Master Clock) > Grimm MU1 > Mola Mola Tambaqui /Meridian 808.3> Wavac EC300B >Tannoy Canterbury SE HP Rig ++ >Woo WES/ > Stax SR-009, Audeze LCD2 Link to comment

The latter certainly had spectacular SQ. It's a new one. My judgement was based on the quality of my streaming source though. It's not that I think that the older one sounded bad but it seemed to me that e.g. the venue acoustics may be even more spectacular in the case of the new recording, also the timpani sounded less boxy.
