  1. Keleketla! A recent collaborative project between South African and London musicians, including Tony Allen and Shabaka Hutchings.
  2. Congratulations to Sarah Tandy, Parliamentary Jazz Awards Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year.
  3. What it claims to be — Fantastic!
  4. Bandcamp has waived fees for artists today, and Marc Cary, one of the very best pianists out there, has a bunch of new releases. He has stated that he will donate the waived fees to the Jasmine Floyd fund in honor of her father. I haven't yet checked out the three releases that he posted today, but I can highly recommend his duet album with Sameer Gupta.
  5. My suggestion is to buy the chassis mount version of the connector that you display, plug in the original SOtM cable and use a continuity checker to find the two terminals that are connected to the hot plug of the dc barrel connector. Mark them with red nail polish (or something). Then you will be set. Insert the cable plug before doing any soldering, and you have a guide. By the way, when soldering make sure to bare only a tiny bit of the wire before tinning. It is very easy to short that connector. Use good lighting, a strong pair of drugstore magnifying glasses, and you should be ok. I've made half a dozen of these and I've never gotten away without using teflon tape to isolate the two hot wires from the neutrals. Good luck!
  6. I think you mean "Sid Marks". I agree, his column was great.
  7. Andy Hay, “Many Rivers” i feel like I'm pissing into the wind here, but this is a great album, deserving of your support, and by an appreciative artist. https://andyhay.bandcamp.com/
  8. Covid-19 has taken two beacons of avant garde jazz. There is a really nice obit in the New York Times. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/20/arts/music/henry-grimes-giuseppi-logan-coronavirus.html
  9. This is probably my favorite album of the last few years. Shake Stew is joined by guest Shabaka Hutchings. I saw them live at the North Sea Jazz Fest last year, and in a festival full of top performers, Shake Stew's performance was by far my favorite.
  10. Is this done by request to the factory, or can the user accomplish it at home?
  11. RIP Ellis Marsalis, a pianist, educator, and gentleman of the highest order.
  12. William Parker Organ Quartet, “Uncle Joe's Spirit House”
  13. A nice tribute: https://londonjazznews.com/2020/03/08/tribute-mccoy-tyner-1938-2020-by-steve-melling/
  14. Me too. We lost one of my favorites.
