Hugo9000
Modest Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition Neeme Järvi/Chicago Symphony Orchestra This is the Ravel orchestration. I can't decide if I prefer this or the Stokowski orchestration, as they both have great merit and beauty/thrills. I like the piano original, of course, and I also love the adaptation for low strings that I own from BIS. Musicophile 1 请教别人一次是5分钟的傻子,从不请教别人是一辈子的傻子 Link to comment
Popular Post Musicophile
Testing this newly released remaster of a 1958 recording with a very impressive cast to see if I need to buy yet another Don. 16/44 stream of a 24/192 remaster. Side note: this is the first DG remaster that I see in 24/192. Is anybody aware of any others? I thought their standard format is 24/96. I’ll end up buying most likely anyhow, given the serious Sublime discount of 50% (€19 vs €38 undiscounted). It’s always surprising how quickly one can get the monthly subscription fee “for free” with these discounts. semente and Guidof 2 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

I've tried to listen to some of her other albums and I have to say I share your opinion. This one is no longer available on Tidal (at least in Canada), so I can't in good conscience give your thumbs down the thumbs up (as much as I would like to). Musicophile 1 Link to comment

Hugo9000
Alexander Scriabin Symphony No. 2 Piano Concerto Vasily Petrenko/Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra Kirill Gerstein, piano Gorgeous playing and textures, wonderful conducting by Petrenko, excellent recording quality! One thing I love about modern times is that so many wonderful orchestras all over the world are being recorded with superb sonics, unlike the past when only a couple dozen at best were well-recorded. Popular Post Paul R
I honestly do not remember where I picked up this CD, but it is always gorgeous. It is not identifiable by Roon, so I don't have information ont he recording for you, except it is a very good recording. L'Estro Armonico - it means The Harmonic Inspiration, and I think the naming is accurate. They were transposed for keyboard performances by no less a personage than Johanne Sebastian Bach himself. This particular recording is performed as it was originally meant to be performed though. No. 11 was written for two violins, Cello, and strings. There is at least once version of this available on QoBuz. -Paul austinpop and rando 2 Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat DAC. Robert A. Heinlein Link to comment

Popular Post Musicophile
One of my favorite Jazz albums (actually one of my Essential Jazz albums, see also here: https://musicophilesblog.com/2015/08/29/musicophiles-25-essential-jazz-albums-part-ii/). I’m currently playing the 24/88 from HDtracks, which I presume is a PCM conversion of the original Concord SACD. If anybody has link to the original DSD, please let me know. It sounds really good even in this version. Daccord, kumakuma, graham and 5 others 4 4 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
