I can't claim this is great art, but dang! It has Gene Kelley and Olivia Newton John at her hottest in it, and half the soundtrack is ELO! The movie is pretty bad story wise, but it was not meant to be high art. Just a showcase for Kelley to dance one more time, and everyone to have a rollicking good time. And it absolutely succeeded, at least the soundtrack did.  Yes, a little dated, but great fun to listen to once in a while. Don't listen too critically, or you will miss the fun parts.

Pity he died so young.  And that he was quite possibly insane.  haha!

LAWO is the private label of the Oslo Philharmonic, and is not on Qobuz (in the U.S., anyway, so I can't share a link).  Listening to my CD.

I checked that one out and it has some great sound on it :) but I didn't recognize any of the music :(

OTOH, the new John Williams collection from LA Philharmonic had me tapping my toes in no time :)

US Amazon carries it (not very helpful for you probably). The orchestra doesn't offer web sales on the English version of their site, but surely they must realize some income directly.  The used channels such as Discogs are probably afloat with forgotten mementos such as this disc.

I think you are not overly serious.  Musicians are almost certainly first rate culled from more prestigious bodies with holes in their schedule. Repertoire and audience participation don't strike me as being of particular interest though. Traditionally we post the full album here of entries into the bird music thread. :)

I needed to hear something rather hopeful tonight. What is more full of hope than Vera Lynn? She was born two months to the day before my mother, who was Ms. Lynns most ardent fan.

Even if Mom didn't like Dr. Strangelove at all, she did love the last song. ;)

In any event, Ms. Lynn is, so far as I know, still living and last topped the UK charts in 2009 with "I Love This Land" - not at all coincidentally released with the end of the Falkland's war. How about that? Is there any other artist who can top the charts at 92?  Well, McCartney may be making a valiant try, I suppose, but... Anyway, this is an album that can cheer anyone up from the doldrums of life.

This particular album is one of my favorites and is available on QoBuz:   https://open.qobuz.com/album/0724382923251

There are some better recorded albums on there too. I can also recommend: https://open.qobuz.com/album/0060255742920 as an excellent recording,

and https://open.qobuz.com/album/5060278844923 as totally fun. (Think Totally Modern Millie if you listen to it. Bet your SO wants to dance! :)

Enjoy!
