  1. Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 running on Ubuntu 18.04 --> piCorePlayer 4.1.2 running on a Raspberry Pi 3B+
  2. DeVore Fidelity Gibbon X loudspeaker frequency response from Stereophile: https://www.stereophile.com/content/devore-fidelity-gibbon-x-loudspeaker-measurements I think plot speaks loudly as to their "value".
  3. I submit to you that Archimago's listening abilities are fine, and the changes you heard were (either all or in part) imagined.
  4. Yes, it happens with Tidal, too, though it seemed to me less often. That may be because I was using Qobuz more lately. I added some buffer space in Squeezelite and the problem has not reoccurred, though that may just be a coincidence.
  5. There are several iOS apps for LMS that work on iPads and iPhones (there are also Android apps). I use iPeng. http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ The LMS ecosystem is very mature and sophisticated, there are many plugins for it, and a large community around it. On the "streamer" end, the Raspberry Pi is also a mature hardware platform with many hardware and software add-ons. You can get everything you need to connect to your pre-amp from HiFiBerry for about $105. https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/bundles/dac-bundle/ From there you can experim
  6. I missed the requirement for a DAC input for the CD player. I would suggest looking at something like a Topping or SMSL before making a large outlay. https://www.amazon.com/Dilvpoetry-TOPPING-Digital-ES9038Q2M2-Amplifier/dp/B07BH13GZ5/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=topping+d50&qid=1555805137&s=gateway&sr=8-4 https://www.amazon.com/Decoder-SMSL-2ES9038Q2M-768kHz-Balance/dp/B07DQDNF6S/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=smsl+su8&qid=1555805285&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull Or check Massdrop for even lower prices https://www.massdrop.com/buy/topp
  7. You could install Logitech Media Server (LMS) on an older PC and use a Raspberry Pi for the transport (to stream to the stereo). The Pi can use a wired or wireless network. A DAC board could be installed on the Pi or it could feed a USB DAC. LMS can stream Tidal and Qobuz. It's as easy to set up as: Install LMS and some music files on the PC. Navigate to http://localhost:9000 and scan your music files. Burn piCorePlayer to memory card, install in the Pi, connect ethernet and DAC , plug in Pi. It should find LMS and LMS should see the player.
  8. Yes, I'll ask there as well. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3B running over wireless, piCorePlayer 4.1, and LMS 7.9.2. Maybe I should increase the buffer size on the Pi. I never have the problem with my own music files.
  9. Is anyone else having problems with playback skipping forward to the next track? It's been happening a lot lately. I'm using the LMS Qobuz app.
  10. Oops, apparently it's been available for a while, I was just confused by the listing on another site.
  11. Just wanted to mention that Benchmark's new line-level preamp starts shipping tomorrow. It's basically the HPA-4 without the headphone amp. https://benchmarkmedia.com/products/benchmark-la4-line-amplifier
  12. One of my favorite Jazz singers. But I don't see this streaming anywhere, so I'm not yet able to add an opinion.
  13. And playback died about 9 minutes into IV. EDIT: and then died some minutes into V. So I'm playing Bernstein 1 instead.
  14. Snerk. I admit, I tend to lose concentration somewhere between the first and last movements. Listening to the Qobuz 192 kHz stream now. EDIT: Interesting that I hear a "tick tick" noise in between movements. Due to the conversion from DSD to PCM? Has anyone had a chance to compare with his brother Adam's recording?
  15. When I'm looking for something different from my usual classical diet, I play one of the Radio Paradise lossless streams. This is on my LMS/RPi, but I imagine the streams are widely available. https://www.radioparadise.com/player
