Oh yes. Its a really good dac as I am able to compare it with T2. It doesn't do mqa. But that doesn't matter. Most dac implementations in integrateds are a after thought. This one isn't.

What is the difference in SQ between T2 DAC and CXA81 dac.

Best regards

If I understand correctly, you're using the preamp section of the CXA81 in the first configuration, with pre-out to the Lexicon power amp, and you prefer this setup to using both the pre and power amp sections of CXA81.

If you don't need other inputs (such as Denon pre-out), and are comfortable with app-based volume control, a direct connection from T2 will give you more transparency.  Please turn down Lumin volume before you begin music playback this way.

However, if you do this I fail to see how you can use the Denon to utilize the Lexicon power amp for the front speakers, or there is something with your setup that I misunderstand.

There's a speaker switch that lets me share the front speakers between denon and cambridge for movies and music respectively. You are right on all the other fronts

Less digital and more analog sounding yet retaining the virtues of  like prat, dynamics, details and separation. Timbre and tonality are top notch. Can do mqa and all that if you're into it. But tbh, the cxa81 dac is very good and definitely not an afterthought and I could live with it if I had to.

What speakers do you use

Not sure this will help, but in JRiver, please make sure "Disable SetNext" is turned off, i.e. SetNext should be enabled.

Thank you so much, this setting worked, the DAC doesn't switch at every track change for the same sample rate.

I had to resort to the Jriver forum to find the setting, it's a right click on the Lumin:Lumin object in Playing now.

Trying out the Lumin app, have most functions under control, Questions though.

If I wish to start an album at track 3 and play that album from track 3 all the way to the end how to do? If I start at track 3, it's all it plays.

For Minimserver, to add just three albums, nothing much happened until I hit rescan from Minimwatch, took just the same amount of time as from the beginning, several minutes. Is there an incremental refresh?

Can Minimserver and Jriver co-habit on the same server and stream to different end points at the same time?

Thinking to run Minimserver to the Lumin 1 only and JRiver to LAN endpoints like other computers.

Are you using the app from a phone?
If so, it's possible you've missed the playlist screen. Whenever LUMIN is playing, it's playing your playlist. So the way I would do this is to add the whole album to the end of the playlist (using the press and hold on album artwork method), and then select track 3 in the playlist and LUMIN will continue to play down through the playlist.
Another way would be to select all the tracks you want (3 onwards) and add just those to the playlist. They will still be grouped on the playlist.

Thanks to everyone’s support, our Tidal Connect certification is proceeding exceedingly well.

In both the beta versions I tested, I had zero issues of any kind..I connected and it stayed connected without any drops. Not sure if there was anything else to be checked and reported.

Good to know on the certification. When I started looking for a steamer/dac, I shortlisted T2, element x and musicbook source. The other two didn't have spotify connect and there was no clarity when that would come. So T2 became the most logical choice. I literally took the decision in 24 hrs to place my order. So happy to see constant updates and efforts to stay relevant and retain competitive advantage in the market place. This ought to be a huge differentiator for Lumin

@thingswelike, thanks for the suggestion there on grouping and using an iPad to show the playlist, much easier to see what's going on.

For a solid week now, using Minimserver and the Lumin app with very results. Roon's mushy playback is now long forgotten, it's incredible how software can make quite a difference,  in this case for the better. Minimserver uses 0.1% CPU time, big deal! Very happy to bury Roon, dissatisfaction started with Roon 1.8, in February 2021 created a ticket for Euphony to enquire about specific details, would have been a costly trial and error, I read now that all extras and goodies progressively added to Euphony are not so engaging as earlier versions. Using Linux in any form also puts me off. Linux is easy, if you know how.... The final nail in the coffin for Roon 806, supposed to fix quite a few problems what it did, but glaring problems still remained and if ever would be fixed.

For new music discovery, reignited Spotify app. 99% of the time is going to be limited to portable phone or radios around the house, garage. When trying to stream to the Lumin, it wasn't found on the Spotify app. Thought to stop Minimserver, but detection still not possible. Other 'dumb' devices like a TV, Ruark radios are detected, but not Lumin. Hmm, sounds like a firewall issue? Anyone know which port to free up?

In Lumin app, please turn off Spotify Connect setting, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on.

Please kill the Spotify app, and relaunch it.

If Lumin still does not appear, please power cycle your whole network starting from the router, including any WiFi access point, NAS, Roon Core, Lumin and iPad.
