Really outstanding.  Strings and piano are very well integrated.  I find some Brahms gets tedious, never here.

I've just listened to the whole album and to me it's a solid, very well sounded gem by Mark! Highly recommend. I am not fan of his solo albums, but as a kid I've been listening to Dire Straits pretty much all the time. Now, this album from the musical perspective is the statement of the men who achieved a lot and now playing because he likes it. Very matured record, very matured guy and solid album - yes, laid back, but what do you expect from the men who spent whole life playing and now enjoying his age? For me, 5 stars!

Listening to one of my all-time favourite pieces, Beethoven's Violin Concerto, Isabell Faust on Harmonia Mundi in 2007:

 

What can I say; it is Mrs Faust! But still, it is "less stellar" than this performance, which for me is the go-to:

Listening again to Mariah Carey's new album, Caution.  It's a very consistent and cohesive album, and I really enjoy every track.  I guess it wasn't fair of me to expect that every song on it would blow away everything she has ever done! hahaha!

The Civil Wars, “Barton Hollow”

 

There are two versions of this album with one that includes the song “Billie Jean” covered and a delish cover of Leonard Cohen’s song “Dance Me To The End Of Love”

 

The album is well recorded in that it is not Over Engineered.

Nice voice and overall a pleasant album, but I think she misses the point on every song.
