Popular Post markf31
The recent thread discussing the costs of photography equipment, and some posts about cycling as a hobby, got me to thinking about hobbies that board members here have beyond being audiophiles. As for myself, I am a part-time/hobby woodworker. The majority of my projects are for myself or friend and family. I do accept commissions all as a result of word-of-mouth referrals, but I do not make much money on any of them and it usually serves to supplement my woodworking hobby further as more often than not any profits I make with a project get turned right back into tools or upgrades to the shop. A few examples of my work are attached here for your viewing enjoyment. Close to 95% of my work is all done with traditional hand tools. The 4th picture is of my work bench as I was in the middle of flattening a white oak panel for my last project. Only about 5% of the work on a particular project is done with power tools, and usually just my 14" bandsaw for breaking down rough stock and my 16" planer. beancounter
Re-enactor, American Civil War (Federal infantry); bandsman (OTS Bb soprano saxhorn - aka cornet) and field musician (bugle). Would love to find the time to play in a community band. I dabble in film photography (old Leica M and screw mount). I really miss the look of Kodachrome with those old Leitz lenses. wgscott
I used to have reef aquariums. That involved a lot of work and expense. I tried to restrict it to captively-propagated corals and the few saltwater fish species that can be bred in captivity. Even then, the amount of electricity I used for lighting and water circulation was pretty extreme. I look at cycling more as an activity than a hobby, but if it counts, I do a fair amount of riding both on and off-road. We have two golden retrievers. I kind of hesitate to call that a hobby, but it does consume a fair amount of time and money, so in that sense probably it qualifies. As a scientist, I'm kind of in a fortunate position in the sense that I get paid to pursue that as a hobby. The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment
Popular Post mourip
I have had a number of hobbies with audio being the longest running. Had a long run with just headphone listening but now have a basement and an indulgent wife and so have been slowly building up a speaker system. I have scratch built a number of amps, both tube and SS. Currently using Linear Tube Audio gear designed by David Berning. Had aquariums including reef tanks but the my best effort was best was a heavily planted freshwater tank that ran for about 5 years. Astronomy. Lots of different scopes but gave it up due to lack of time and living in an urban area. Photography. At one point was selling enough photos to pay for about half my hobby. Wish I could say that about audio! Currently have a couple of Sony cameras and like to use legacy manual focus lenses with them. Still enjoy hiking, snorkeling, and red wine but not at the same time... Nikhil and The Computer Audiophile 2 "Don't Believe Everything You Think" System Link to comment

I am assuming here that some of them are climate related as well. Do your dogs run along with you when keeping fit on your bicycle ? How a Digital Audio file sounds, or a Digital Video file looks, is governed to a large extent by the Power Supply area. All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file. PROFILE UPDATED 13-11-2020 Link to comment
