992Sam
After waiting 2 months for it, the MA9000 arrived with a huge hold in the outer box, and a crack on the front glass (look at the right side, near the meter window) .. What would you do? I'm being told they can ship a new glass face to replace .. it might be another month or more to get a new unit.. I'm a bit frustrated but wonder what you all think is the way I should handle this? sandyk
Do you have to pay the return shipping costs of the damaged unit ? How a Digital Audio file sounds, or a Digital Video file looks, is governed to a large extent by the Power Supply area. All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file. PROFILE UPDATED 13-11-2020 Link to comment

Popular Post One and a half
That's a bad hit, I would not accept it, there would be finite cracks in the PCB's from a hit like that. Eventually with heat and time these open causing intermittent opening in signal or worse power supplies. Another 2 months wait :( The amp is on a pallet and still was hit, very bad transport company using transformers like footballs. sandyk, Solstice380, patman and 1 other 4 AS Profile Equipment List Say NO to MQA Link to comment
Popular Post firedog
Still at your dealer? They should be able to get expedited replacement from Macintosh in such a circumstance. JoeWhip
I wouldn’t take it either. While the transport company is at fault, I am not impressed with how the box was protected internally. Link to comment
WAM
+1. If you buy a new amp, you want it in mint condition. Their customer service is pretty good (our new amp had a problem, we had a new one in a few days). The question: is it in stock. Link to comment

JoeWhip
Yes but that was probably done to check to see interior damage without having to open the box up completely. 992Sam 1 Link to comment
stefano_mbp
It’s a fedex problem, they damaged the box and they are covered by assurance. I would pretend a full replacement, it doesn't matter if I have to wait 992Sam 1 Stefano My audio system Link to comment
Solstice380
@992Sam If it broke that thick glass it took a serious hit! Do NOT accept the repair approach. McIntosh has great customer service and (generally) great dealers. The only issue is the wait, but your peace of mind will be worth it! 992Sam 1 https://audiophilestyle.com/profile/21384-solstice380/?tab=field_core_pfield_3 Link to comment

What benefit is there in that? Seems to me that's destroying the evidence required to make a claim against the courier. OTH, perhaps the damage happened in the dealer's domain? In any case, the dealer would need to do a complete inspection sans packaging. 992Sam 1 mQa is dead! Link to comment

joelha
Get a new unit and, given your long wait, ask the dealer for a loaner of some other nice amp in the meantime. He doesn't have to give you a loaner but, because of your patience, you deserve it and hopefully he will recognize that. Joel 992Sam 1 Link to comment

Simple, it preserved the obvious puncture of the box and removed any possible argument of tampering if the box was completely opened and the piece removed. This is pretty typical in these situations. 992Sam 1 Link to comment

rando
Examination of the parent company and discoveries made during their selling off ARC might be instrumental in how one went about handling this unfortunate event. Coupled with workforce and supply issues. You may not like the answer but you owe it to yourself to uncover it. 992Sam 1 Link to comment
Popular Post 992Sam
Ok, so the universe has spoken! I went and saw the unit in person, and there is no way I'm going to accept it.. the damage looks like it must have caused some internal frame / stress..... So I originally set out to buy separates, but went with the integrated to save a few $$.. I had some regrets but this having happened, I decided that since I have to wait again (a month or more) for a new unit, I would just go with separates (McIntosh C53 and MC462)... so, yep... as you all advised, I didn't accept it, and McIntosh will take it back and deal with Fedex Freight on their end. Allan F
Sam, Enjoy the McIntosh separates and the peace of mind of knowing that there is no risk of internal damage to your units, and that you don't have to delay your enjoyment of your new gear. 992Sam 1 "Relax, it's only hi-fi.
