Chris, please. This is not honest. OK, my opinion. This thread is complete BS about nothing whatsoever, but, it has its own life.

I easily can sympathize. Maybe even with The Troll and his purpose with it.

I guess I must admit to not being surprised but also not understanding. I don't understand why people feel the need to read and respond to people they believe are trolls. In my case, in general, my first stop when coming to CA is to check the "Activity" forum. If I see a topic or a poster who I'm interested in, I'll then go to the relevant posts. Today. unfortunately, that happened to be this abomination of a thread because of a particular poster who I try and follow whenever possible. When Troll started to show obvious distress at this posters comments, I couldn't help but respond the way I did. I have zero regrets for anything I've posted since.

My only regret is coming to this site today.

Wonderful, thanks for asking for clarification rather than guessing. 

 

It seems like several people are trying to get back at mansr, giving him a taste of his own medicine. Tolling the troll as others put it. Me removing posts seems to have taken a side in this "fight" or lessened the jabs some people are taking at him. 

 

I seems like you are taking it personally that I removed your two posts, among many others. When I see comments like:

 

"HaHa. I just logged in to post the exact same thing."

 

and

 

"Looks like "Super Troll" finally met his match. Too funny."

 

I don't consider them comments that must be carved into stone for all to see forever. I see your comments as 1. agreeing with what someone else said and 2. personally attacking someone by calling him a Super Troll.

 

I can see if you'd written a long treatise on digital audio that you'd be upset about losing time. However, given your comments above, it seems like this is about more than me deleting your comments.

 

I don't take sides and defend certain people. I removed several posts calling others names. Big deal. We move on.

I think I know the answer to that valid question (I’ll be brief as I hate typing on phone).  Two reasons:

 

1) Threads like this are an outlet—for both the OP and people he likes to make fun of—to engage in debate/combat/banter (whatever each perceives it as) without distracting from other threads on a specific hi-fi system topic.  A number of people have noted that when a thread such as this is active, their other threads of interest do not attract the usual detractors as much.

 

2) Threads like this—which are general with a provocative premise—can be a healthy outlet both to vent and to bring up broader issues that might be on our minds.  Seems okay until it gets personal or completely mastabatory.
