Streaming mp3 fragments and as much as I love the former recording (I think it's one of very few interesting albums with LC covers), I don't know what to think of this one (but I have a problem with classical singing, especially with male vocalists so maybe you need to check it out for yourself..). How did you get that? Link to comment

AnotherSpin
A rare gem of early ECM. A free-flying piano trio recorded just before Chick Corea took a radical turn toward more accessible electric jazz with Return to Forever group. https://open.qobuz.com/album/0004228336782 Link to comment
Popular Post AnotherSpin
Haven't listened to this ECM album since the glorious days of LPs in the '70s. Who would have thought in those fabulous times that in half a century my town would be living in war, blackouts, and cold? Everything has changed unpredictably, except the music, of course. https://open.qobuz.com/album/0060249871773 lamode and sphinxsix 1 1 Link to comment
firedog
Recent addition at Qobuz. Quite good. Slightly unusual version of the Ravel/Mussorgsky, supposedly more accurate to the original Ravel score. Sound on the CD Version is good. At Amazon there were a lot of comments that the sound was awful. Maybe that's the SACD layer in that version. austinpop 1 Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
AnotherSpin
An early recording of Goldberg Variations by the celebrated German musician Karl Richter. The masterful performance on the two-manual harpsichord (as originally conceived) can serve as a reference for comparison with modern performances. In addition to this early version, Karl Richter recorded the Variations several times, including an album for DG in the early '70s and two or three albums for Japanese labels, but this debut version is particularly appealing. The sound quality is archival, of course. Which may or may not be a disadvantage. https://open.qobuz.com/album/py4fax7abwfqa sphinxsix 1 Link to comment

Popular Post AnotherSpin
I would like to know the reasons that prompted Herbert von Karajan to conduct Mahler's symphony. It seems to have been no more natural than forcing Richard Wagner to attend synagogue routinely. Who knows if this decision was voluntary, or if it was a kind of excuse for Karajan with his Nazi past: look - I'm conducting Mahler. Now we come to the difficult part. Is it any good at all? Well, I don't think so. Opulent Berliners, great conductor, but, you know, you can't fake the orga... musical excitement for real. A unique example that helps one understand why some people adore Mahler's music and others can't stand it. And yes, the adagietto is gorgeous, but this is Karajan after all. https://open.qobuz.com/album/0002894794881 sphinxsix, WAM and Jud 1 1 1 Link to comment
