Here comes Peter Gabriel with a studio album of original material for the first time in 20+ years. 12 songs repeated twice, in two alternative mixes. The first impression is not great: everything, or almost everything we've heard in Gabriel's previous albums. Gradually the album grows in perception: it is not outstanding, but not bad either. The second version of the mixes is better than the first, imo.

Seeing these songs being played in concert was amazing. The man definitely has something to say.

Mahler in the hysterical style à la Bernstein or Barbirolli may feel overdone and tasteless today. Sober, introverted interpretations like Vänskä does still work.

DG published several sets of Gulda tapes with Mozart music lately, it was stated they were originally recorded in 1980 and never published before, both live and studio. Amadeo recording was dated earlier, 1977. It was released several times on LP, and on CD in 1988 (see pic from Discogs).
