My thoughts:

 

why post the email exchange? Really...a bit non professional imo. You may have the right to do it, however, does not make it the right thing to do.  As a business owner, i ‘ve had “tiffs” with clients, etc...some even did me wrong...id never post those enails on a public forum. 

 

As a professional photographer im always dealing with people violating copyrights, using my photos without permission, etc. The TA owner probably deals with the same stuff on a weekly basis. Sure, the owner could have handled things better, sure the feed may be set up poorly. Just abide by his wishes and remove. 

 

Just because you get a little jarred at an email, doesnt mean there is WAR! Just abide by the copyright holder’s wish. Sure, you may win in court if he sues...is it worth it? We are not talking about kids being held in cages at the Mexico border.,this is just a hobby topic..nothing earth shattering

The email in and of itself is what is unprofessional. Not Chris turning it into a thread here. 

 

Here's a bit of advice for people when they use email: Assume it's going to be on the front page of the New York Times. 

 

There are certainly conversations that I've had that have taken place outside of electronic means.

 Sometimes in life, it doesn't always pay to stand up to BULLIES !

 It isn't always worth the wasted time and expense with the preparations, legal consultations, , court cases and all the additional worry just to prove that you are in the right.

Court cases can also  be scheduled for a time that is inconvenient, where you may have already made plans to be elsewhere.

To add to this, here is a piece of advice I used to tell the porn addicts at the various corporate networks I managed:  

 

Assume NOTHING you do or see on your computer is "private" and not recorded/logged by some computer geek such as myself which in turn will be used against you in some form or fashion by a supervisor, law enforcement agent, "journalist", or your wife...

I've been to court so many times that threats just go right by me. 

 

Had a customer that was abusive to my staff here. I called up and booted them and gave them 30 days.

 

They actually have their attorney call me about how it's going to be detrimental for their business.  I just let them know they agreed to a TOS with a jurisdiction clause and asked if they are licensed in my state. Also let them know I can provide a phone recording of every conversation we've ever had with the asshole. 

 

I literally laughed at the attorney and wished him the best of luck in the law suite.

 If it doesn't go away, and I guess that he will be closely watching this thread and documenting it, let's hope that a court appearance isn't scheduled for when Chris wants to be at an Audio show in the other side of the world.

I see your understanding of RSS is about as good as audio... So here goes:

 

Chris isn't setting up and RSS feed to actively disseminate threads here over RSS feeds. 

 

Everything on this site is Copyright that benefits Chris (why else run a commercial forum?). But what Chris is doing is this:

ToneAudio setup an RSS feed to distribute their content (syndication). Chris has taken them up on that offer. If they don't want ToneAudio content delivered that way then they have the option of NOT USING RSS.

Hi Alex - This is where the technology difference comes in. 

 

When you provide material for an RSS feed, it is automatically gathered by the "feed readers" of everyone who subscribes to it. If it is not your intent to have this content disseminated to and by the millions of people with feed readers, the elementary step is not to make it available in your RSS feed. 

 

It's as if you sent millions of people the full contents of your magazine in an email with no password protection, then hollered at them for not treating the contents as protected.

 However, in this case the complainant obviously had no idea that this could happen.

 Yes, he was ill informed.

 Is it worth getting all hot under the collar for such a trivial issue, when all Chris has to do is remove the disputed content, and advise that he would in future do the same again if the omission wasn't corrected ?

Obviously, this issue has greatly upset Chris, but does he and his family need all the added stress that pursuing this further may involve ?

 Perhaps it's better for Chris to sleep on the issue and ignore the beating war drums from a few members?
