  1. Down again. many other users having same issue
  2. Looks like there is a network issue with Tidal and Qobuz thru Roon
  3. I meant to say above Low cost MQA dacs were not available.
  4. You are right about the S2's performance. However, at the time of it's release, low cost dacs (besides the Dragonfly dongle) were not available. The talk on all the audio forums was about the S2 being an affordable MQA Dac. Many upon many non MQA options in the price range
  5. So what is the consensus on the best (non battery) power upgrade for the s2? When I first got the unit a couple years back, people mentioned the ifi power cable (around $50 I believe). I'm not interested in battery power.
  6. I wonder if John Westlake is involved with this unit.
  7. The popularity of the low priced s2 was much to do with MQA abilities at a low price. Im sure the same here competing with the likes of Mytek, Teac, etc.
  8. Dual mono, balanced outputs plus HDMI MSRP is a bit pricey, however, I’m sure you’ll be able to get cheaper https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/pre-box-rs2-digital/
  9. Anyone purchase one and can offer any opinions?
  10. Is Qobuz down for anyone else? Web site even gets me an error warning. Streaming went down as I was listening this morning.
  11. Great to see a new MQA Dac in the $400 arena with the Pro-Jett S2 https://apos.store/products/smsl-m500-mqa-amp-dac?variant=29356345720906&currency=USD&utm_campaign=gs-2019-05-21&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzZ7tuc295AIVVf7jBx1lqw0GEAQYASABEgINpfD_BwE
  12. I did not see anything about a new update. It’s just the current updated does not see the unit.
  13. Of course, shorter the cable the better in pretty much any instance in audio (even digital). However, assuming you are using a high quality usb cable, server, dac, etc what would be the longest length one could use to where audio is not negatively effected? I know USB has length limited before one would need a powered booster...I'm talking in a general audio quality sense.
  14. I have one of the very first S2 units. It's one of the units that I cannot upgrade the firmware anymore (at least with current installer on Pro-Ject site).I wonder if there is any significant benefit purchasing a new unit that works with current upgrade installers. My unit does not have the "clicking " issue or reverse channels.
  15. Thanks. I know there are cheaper options, however, the Pro-Ject looks like a good step up with a focus on USB stability.
  16. Right now (don’t laugh), I’m running a super long active usb cable from my Mac ( with AQ jitterbug) all the way to my S2 pre box Dac in my audio room. Actually, believe it or not, the sound is fantastic. I love the sound of the S2 Dac. I play everything they Roon including Tidal and Qobuz. Anyway, I was leaning toward a Teac Nt505 or even a Lumin T2. However, we have some home remodeling projects that need higher priority. My my goal is to get rid of the long usb cable ( doing some rearranging) and utilize the ethernet connection at my audio rack. The Microrendu looks like a good option. For the same price, the Pro- Ject stream box ultra looks even better. My S2 can run off the same power supply as the stream box the goal of this thread is to get some first hand knowledge and opinions of the Stream Box Ultra. Specifically used as a Roon endpoint. My system: psaudio bhk pre, Zu omen def speakers, pre box S2, NuForce sta200 amp, Taurus power conditioner. Roon core on my i7 iMac. Oppo 103.
  17. I was going to say the same thing. Looks like they took close out cable boxes and put them to use. Not very pretty indeed
  18. Great info. I agree...much is system dependent. Do you use Roon? If so, any issues setting up the G1 for such?
  19. I know many advocate a separate streamer and Dac, however, wouldn't the USB connection between the two be a weak link that would be best eliminated? Of course you are using quality separate components
  20. Great info. First I heard the T2 leans a little on the clinical side of neutral. That is how I always pictured the sound of Benchmark Dacs. I wonder if the Teac by 505 is a bit clinical as well. Yes, I know it’s half the price of a D2.
