I say that not just because I joined CA within a couple months of its founding. It is that just seeing someone's post count is not a complete indicator of their "newness" or "oldness" around here. Some folks who have been hanging about are mostly lurkers (as are, from what Chris tells me of the large percentage of visitors who are not even members). Not everyone who has been around a long time has the keyboard diarrhea awesome post count of Jud. (Did I mention that strikethrough is my favorite new feature?) All kidding aside, I do miss the "Join Date" appearing (and yes, I know it shows if you hover over the member name). Hope you all are having a great weekend. Weather is beautiful up here near Yosemite this time of year. --Alex C. Neither post count nor join date typically tell anything of value about a person. If Claude Shannon himself joined today and made one post, it would probably be the best post ever on this forum. Likewise, someone spouting bullshit every day for years is still not worth listening to. I'd rather see the post count also relegated to the popup rather than cluttering the main view. In many web forums, the actual content seems to take a back seat to garish avatars, half-page signatures, and bragging stats. This new design for CA is a very welcome break from that tradition. mjb 1 Link to comment
arglebargle
Is the font size for the poster's name set in stone here? And I swear I'm not just asking because of the trailing "e" on my own name. Well I suppose I can take solace in the fact that because of my font substitution rules, even our illustrious host is a member of the club. Daudio 1 Link to comment

avta
I'll try. The main topic heading is clear but the type below that is rather faint particularly as compared to your previous site. I've included a screen shot. Hope that helps. Guy Link to comment
Nikhil
@The Computer Audiophile Is it possible to change the way user references are displayed in posts? Earlier the forum member's handle was displayed in bold font but now uses a bright blue highlighter which is too much of contrast. The blue was in direct response to complaints about the way it was. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

IMO light grey may be a better shade than the blue. Or just blue/black bold font instead of the blue highlighter. Just a suggestion .... I tried setting the opacity of the background to 50%, leaving the colour as is, and that looks better to me, especially since it adapts to the darker background of quoted text. Link to comment

EdmontonCanuck
Maybe I've not quite got the hang of it, or my "CA workflow" isn't optimal, but here's the problem I'm having with the new site on an iPad. I usually navigate to the main site and click on "unread content". I normally try to do this everyday to keep up on what's happening on the site. If something catches my eye or is a topic that I'm following, I click on the icon to read the latest postings, and when I'm done I click the "back" button to get back to the forum topics list to continue. The issue I'm having is that If I have scrolled to the point where I need to click on "load more content" and do so, after clicking the "back" button I'm always taken back to the top of topics listing, which causes me to have to scroll back to where I was when I clicked into topic (it doesn't take me back to where I was originally). I'm guessing that this is related to the dynamic HTML view that "removes" the topic I was already viewing because it's no longer "unread". Is anyone else having this issue? Popular Post austinpop
Let me offer up my little primer and a couple of my custom activities that helped me bridge from the old site to the new. Here it is in a table: Desired Outcome___________________Old Site Action_________________New Site Action Show threads with unread posts______ Click on user handle top right_____My custom activity: https://www.computeraudiophile.com/discover/34/?&view=condensed Show all subscribed threads__________Click on Subscriptions link________My custom activity: https://www.computeraudiophile.com/discover/33/?&view=condensed Show first unread post_______________Click on thread title link___________Click on the little green/blue dot/star to the left of the thread title (does not work if no unread) Show last post in thread no unread____Click on thread title link___________Click on the the time value (e.g. 28 min) in the second last column of the thread title Observations I hope this helps If you like one of my custom activities, you can always make it a default. Hover over the check box to the right of the activity name, and "set as default stream." Doing this also causes this custom activity to displace the default activity next to "Mark site read" under the search bar on the top right. @The Computer Audiophile - I do feel outcomes 3 and 4 above are quirky on the new site. Item 3 at least has a visual indicator, the green/blue dot/star. Item 4 is completely opaque. Not a big deal once you know how, but impossible for a new user to learn other than by trial and error. My suggestion would be to have a single action - click on topic title. The outcome could be based on context: go to first post if first entry into this topic. Or, if previously traversed, go to first unread, if any. Or, if the topic is fully read, go the last post Also, iIt would be nice to have the ability to either create tables, or at least not have tabs ignored. As it is, I had to use the ugly _'s to align things! mozes and Daudio 2 My Audio Setup Link to comment
labjr
I've tried CA with a few different browsers now and thought about the issue I'm having with the text. Most browsers render washed out looking text with this new dynamic HTML thing. I remember in Windows XP, Internet Explorer used a technology called ClearType to improve text rendering. At the time I compared other browsers and felt IE did the best job. Now that I've tried it again I still think IE renders the text better than other browsers. It's sharper, darker and just easier on the eyes. Link to comment
Popular Post AudGuy
I don't know if this has been mentioned and if so, I apologize for bringing it up again but ... on my desktop system when I enter the FORUMS page, there is a problem with some of the pages elements. At the top of the page the black bar containing Home, FORUMS, Blogs, Activity & Store is covering some of the pages text. Like this: Forums_Page.jpg The page is ok except for this 1 problem and while I do know what the underlying text is, really it shouldn't be obscured I don't think. The second page shows things properly. Like this: Forums_General Forums Page.jpg The new software for the site seems to have elements that while they may be phone friendly, they are less desktop friendly than they might be. Just another bit of a stumble I guess. Thank You, AudGuy Daudio and The Computer Audiophile 2 Link to comment

mansr
The "quote this" that pops up when selecting text is erratic in Chrome on Android. Sometimes it appears in some random place on the screen, often not at all. Don't know if other mobile browsers are also affected. The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment
