fas42
From the POV of the music purists perhaps - there is strong bounce of the sound from the ceiling, which has been tackled in various ways; but didn't seem to interfere here. Coughs from the audience could be heard to echo about in the quiet bits, and there are plenty of incidental noises from this live capture - but it adds to the sense of the occasion. Link to comment

fas42
A burnt CDR, skips like mad, but still works a treat .... One of the best songs has been totally butchered by absurd compression in this YouTube clip; the album itself is pristine .... spin33 1 Link to comment
Paul R
"The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" on this album is an example of what makes it worthwhile to go through the work to put together a good audio system. The rest of the album is pretty awesome as well. -Paul Judy Collins did a fair rendition of this on her _Judith Album_. Josh Groban did an excellent rendition on his _All That Echos_ album. Radka Toneff did an even better vocal rendition on her FairyTales album with Steve Dobrogosz (but it is in MQA, so people might hate it... ) But Rigmor Gustafsson (hailing from Sweden) really nailed it. If you want to listen to the words, this is the one to go for. But The Charlie Haden / Pat Metheny rendition is still the best. graham 1 Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat DAC. Robert A. Heinlein Link to comment

HIFI
I like nearly everything from soundliasion.com and Carmen Gomes is one great artist. I have every album she has recorded with label and this newest release is truly outstanding in that is a One Mic recording. Vocal is simply “pure” and the sound stage with location, separation and space is magical from a One Mic recording. qdwieertteyrujpo 1 My System : TWO SPEAKERS AND A CHAIR Link to comment

Musicophile
Still not too familiar with Sibelius symphony cycle in spite of several attempts with Vänskä and some others. So just checking this new box set out on Qobuz, given that I typically really like Paavo, downloaded for offline playback to the Qobuz iOS app for today’s in-flight entertainment. By the way for those who are interested I have a new blog post out about Mendelssohn: https://musicophilesblog.com/2019/02/16/another-excellent-recording-of-the-mendelssohn-piano-concertos-by-ronald-brautigam/ Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

rando
It was released 86/87. Pre-emphasis on Denon and BIS existed long after everyone else ditched it. Was that the case here @fas42? Apparently popped collars are still alive in Russia. Musicophile 1 Link to comment

The first major label digital recording of popular music, Ry Cooder's "Bop 'til You Drop," was released in 1979, if that helps at all.
