Thanks Mike,

I have discovered that removing the LPS1.2 and using the uptown smps has resolved the problem....

next question why?

sounds like you were exceeding the 1.1 amp limit on the lps1.2.  what output voltage do you have the lps1.2 set to?

Thanks jcn3,

What is power supply were you using to energize the lps1.2 (and what voltage)?

Hi JCN/BCR,

I am using the Uptone 7.5v 36w smps, hence being able to power the Ultrarendu directly....

I have also 'reached' out to Alex, who has responded immediately with suggestions for me to test the LPS (excellent customer service ,as usual)

Bottom line- ultrarendu is ok and performing again.

thanks for your input

😄

Hi,

my ultrarendu is emitting a regular pulse of noise every second or so, as it’s led flashes red....

i cannot connect to sonicorbiter to ‘manage ‘ it.

suggestions gratefully received

My ultrarendu was also 'emitting a regular pulse of noise every second or so'.

I eventually discovered the source to be the Uptone LPS1.2 smps brick. Relocating the brick eliminated the noise.

I would run the update again, I remember when 2.8 became available executing the update twice seemed to clear up issues. When was the last time you ran an update?

This could be an issue with the file on the server. I'll email Andrew about it.

Can you confirm acceptable voltage range of 7v - 220v - Inl version?

My country voltage is usually within from 230-240v,

Thanks,

Nominal input voltage is 230 VAC.  A bit higher voltage is not a problem, only very low line voltage (<220 VAC) would be a problem.  But I would be perhaps a little concerned if your line voltage went above 245 VAC or so, but I also suspect that regulations do not allow for voltages that high to be present in your country?

All good then.

Well, I’m still having the same issues, the OR finally stopped working a couple of days ago and nothing I tried has been able to wake the thing up, I’m leaning towards the power supply being at fault because the OR is pretty cold to the touch , tried re powering everything with no results , unfortunately there’s no power light on your power supply so I can’t really telll

I just tried using my JS-2 to power the OR and now everything is fine so I believe the power supply is faulty

I am very sorry to hear this.  Do you have a voltmeter/DMM?  And, what is your AC line voltage?

ummm...  Do you want to try and troubleshoot the power supply with your meter?

Also, what is your AC line voltage?

Yes, I’ll like to check those things ,AC voltage and trouble shoot the power supply,  If you have the time could you please guide me through the process

First thing to do is to look at your voltmeter and set it to measure DC voltages, then test that you have it set correctly by measuring a battery (a fresh one).  A fresh battery should should measure a bit higher voltage than what it is nominally:

Example, say you have a AA battery of 1.5 volts DC, a fresh one of these will measure a bit over 1.5 volts DC.  Once you have success measuring the battery, then measure the output voltage of the power supply with the DC cable attached.  The positive probe of the meter should go to the inside of the plug, and the common probe of the meter should go to the outside of the barrel of the same plug.  Your positive probe should be marked (and probably color red) and the common probe should be colored black.
