If you search for some titles in this playlist, can you find them in Audirvana's library ?

yes, Damien: e.g. in this album there are at least two

don't get mad at it, though: I'll re-create that playlist from scratch ;)

Qnap HS-264 NAS (powered by an HD-Plex 100w LPS) > Cirrus7 Nimbini v2.5 Media Edition i7-8559U/32/512 running Roon ROCK (powered by a Keces P8 LPS) > Lumin U2  > Metrum Acoustics Adagio NOS digital preamplifier > Metrum Acoustics Forte power amplifier (or  First Watt SIT 3  power amplifier or Don Garber Fi "Y" 6922 tube preamplifier + Don Garber Fi "X" 2A3 SET power amplifier, both powered from an Alpha-Core BP-30 Isolated Symmetrical Power Transformer) > Klipsch Cornwall III

Maybe just edit your post ?

The bad news is that it causes an Apple supplied function to hang at the end of the first track, also when reading.

This will not be an easy or quick fix.

Thanks for your efforts, Damien, I can wait, no hurry.  It would also be nice if you can select a range of albums by selecting the first and last album.  Now you can only select 'Select All', and select or de-select specific  albums. Pressing cancel goes one level back, but you expect it's a kind of stop/reset function.  It's working a little quirky all together IMHO.

Btw. editing a post is only possible for a short period of time, I understand.

@damien78

thank you for making this clear ... then "some" work to do to modify album folders according to Album Artist ... it's a hobby ...

other problems

1) still crashing when selecting some filters

    - I selected one Genre, then one Composer ... crash, reopened A+ and selected one more Composer, ok, deselected one of the   Composers ... crash

2) Smart playlists: I can enter a new smart playlist, it works, but if I try to change it no criteria is displayed (see the attached image)

change Smart playlist.jpeg

Ok, so I'll need some help to hunt those as I can't reproduce them.

Can you first update to beta 20 I've just released?

then if you still get a crash with filters, can you send me by email, or PM the crash report?

For the smart playlist, can you tell me which criteria you had entered that was not saved?

ok, so... stopped playback to change some Izotope settings and... couldn't resume track unavailable, Qobuz streaming

changed to Sox and all is fine again (very same album)

😶

btw: in Izotope settings Pre-Ringing value is "garbled" and can't be set manually: only using the slider

Done! ;)

Pre-Ringing Numerical value still garbled (see screenshot here below)and... can't change Steepness, neither using the slider or by entering a value: if I try it only goes to "0"

EDIT: wait... looks I succeeded changing steepness too

EDIT2: for some reason looks playback from Qobuz takes longer to start if Izotope is selected. but now it starts

btw... settings I'm using for a Metrum Adagio DAC

(still those I was using with the Hex)

The comments I've seen here are from people thinking it sounds better. I agree.  (First thing I noticed, actually.)

Edit: Though some people have said they miss iZotope, which Damien is bringing back for those with a 3.2 license.

Is it more smooth than previous versions?  That’s always been my struggle with A+, no matter how much I adjusted the settings, it leans a bit bright compared to Amarra or HQPlayer.

In my system I hear that as a more open top end vs. HQP (I don't have Amarra), so to me it's not a defect. (Don't have measurements, so no way to be sure which is correct, or even if what we're hearing is real.) In my subjective listening that characteristic is still there.

If you listen and it's too bright you can change it by reducing SoX bandwidth so the filter cut happens at a lower frequency.  Damien has also suggested lowering the filter phase setting. You can see if one or both of those has the desired effect.

Thanks for the advice. What are the exact settings in Sox to reduce brightness?  I don't understand the settings language very well, so its helpful to be told exactly what to set.

Also, I have a 3.2 license and have been using Izotope.  I've yet to try the 3.5 beta because of its restriction to Sox.  Does the current 3.5 beta allow for Izotope yet?  Just prefer to have the option of both before I dive into 3.5.

The old iZotope (no update since 2011) algorithm has been deprecated in favour of SoX that gives better sonic results, especially a larger bandwidth.
To ease the transition for current users, I'll add again choice for iZotope in an upcoming beta, but this will be available only for users upgrading from a previously purchased Audirvana Plus version.
If you find SoX to be a bit too bright, you can tune it by first setting its phase setting around 65, and you can also look at decreasing the filter slope by reducing the "bandwidth" (it is exactly the bandwidth at 0dB).

Thanks.  Yes, I saw that from Damien.  Forgive me for not understanding the lingo so well, but when I went to the Sox settings, I couldn’t quite figure out precisely what Jud and Damien were suggesting to set because the terms are a little different in the settings.  For a simple creature like myself, it’s helpful to have the exact settings spelled out for Sox to reduce brightness.  Like the post of Jud’s two different Izotope setting recipes, one for fullness, the other for completeness.

Where are the various beta releases posted?  I looked through several pages of this thread and see references to the releases, but not a link to download them.  Thanks.

3.5 has launched and migrated the library.  Where do you do the Izotype, VST plugins setting, etc?  When I select “Preferences” from the drop down menu bar, nothing happens.  And in the “Settings” on the new version, I don’t see those particular settings.  Thx

As you'll see, I actually used the terms in the SoX settings: Bandwidth ("SoX filter bandwidth") is the first SoX setting; Phase ("SoX filter phase") is the last SoX setting.

The maximum bandwidth setting is 99.5%.  If you think things sound too bright, lower that slider or type in a lower number.

SoX filter phase max setting is 100 (the default is lower).  That's also known as "linear phase."  Damien has suggested that if things sound too bright or aggressive, you can try lowering that number (0 on that scale is also known as "minimum phase").

That's SoX.  The corresponding iZotope settings would be cutoff frequency (.99 Nyquist would be the same as 99% Nyquist in SoX) and pre-ringing (0 to 1.00 corresponding to 0 to 100 in SoX).
