photonblur
If the audiophile fairy granted you one component excluding speakers, price no object, to complement your existing system; you would choose.........? I would go for the top end mega-buck W20 aurender music player. pb- Link to comment

Teresa
I'd have to say a dedicated room with full acoustic treatment. I'd go for that, if it includes a house wrapped around that dedicated listening room with full acoustic treatment. Also it would be nice if the house was on a large plot of land so I can play music as loud as I want day or night. Thanks, audiophile fairy! I have dementia. I save all my posts in a text file I call Forums. I do a search in that file to find out what I said or did in the past. I still love music. Teresa Link to comment

Panelhead
I'd get one of those USB regenerator dohickies. I am waiting on the Thunderbolt regenerators. 2012 Mac Mini, i5 - 2.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM. SSD, PM/PV software, Focusrite Clarett 4Pre 4 channel interface. Daysequerra M4.0X Broadcast monitor., My_Ref Evolution rev a , Klipsch La Scala II, Blue Sky Sub 12 Clarett used as ADC for vinyl rips. Corning Optical Thunderbolt cable used to connect computer to 4Pre. Dac fed by iFi iPower and Noise Trapper isolation transformer. Link to comment
bluesman
Stax!! I foolishly sold my original SRX (circa 1975) with surrounds and headband worn to the point of uselessness - I was offered a good price for them "as is". I can't believe what they cost today! Link to comment
jcbenten
Either a nice pre-amp with a decent builtin phono or a Well Tempered Amadeus. Anything else would be excessive for my system. I also need a new dac but not sure what capabilities/specs I want. QNAP TS453Pro w/QLMS->Netgear Switch->Netgear RAX43 Router->Ethernet (50 ft)->Netgear switch->SBTouch ->SABAJ A10d->Linn Majik-IL (preamp)->Linn 2250->Linn Keilidh; Control Points: iPeng (iPad Air & iPhone); Also: Rega P3-24 w/ DV 10x5; OPPO 103; PC Playback: Foobar2000 & JRiver; Portable: iPhone 12 ProMax & Radio Paradise or NAS streaming; Sony NWZ ZX2 w/ PHA-3; SMSL IQ, Fiio Q5, iFi Nano iDSD BL; Garage: Edifier S1000DB Active Speakers Link to comment
cgiammona
Same here - I have the space and money but so far not the courage to disrupt one of our rooms, but that could change in 2016. I'd have to say a dedicated room with full acoustic treatment. Headphones: ZMF Atrium Closed, ZMF Bokeh, Audeze LCD-X, Meze 109 Pro, Focal Clear Mg, Noble Katana IEMs, Dan Clark Aeon 2 Closed Amp/DAC: Decware MKIII Tube Amp, ZMF Homage, Schiit Bifrost 2/64, Woo Audio WA8, Burston Playmate 2, Mytek DSD192 DAC, Cayin RU7, Chord Mojo, Fiio M11 Plus DAP Cables: Promitheus XLR Interconnects, WyWired red cables, Meze Silver, ZMF 6.35 ofc and 4 pin xlr stock, Arctic Cable, Audio Envy Cable balanced, balanced Silver Interconnects Other: Aurender N100H, Macbook Pro (2023) running Audirvana Studio Link to comment

Norton
Perhaps a bit modest in the price no object stakes, but anyway: LT-Ultimate | ELP Laser Turntable So maybe I can blow the rest of the budget on http://www.esoteric.jp/products/esoteric/p1d1/indexe.html and on a big enough room in a big enough house to hold the Klipsch Jubilees I'm not allowed to mention in this thread... I would go for the top end mega-buck W20 aurender music player. pb- That's easy. Pair of Martin-Logan CLX speakers with matching sub-woofers OR, a pair of Sound Labs U-1PX (no sub needed), but then you said excluding speakers (why, I wonder?). In that case, it would likely be a pair of Pass Xs150 (or Xs300 although I don't need that much power) Class-A mono blocks. George Link to comment
gmgraves
Full boat Linn Sondek LP12. About $16,000. I remember (and it wasn't all that long ago, either) when an LP12 with Linn arm and cartridge was only about $1000. What happened? George Link to comment
gmgraves
A Bösendorfer 170 and a Martin D-45. ;-) Now, a Bosendorfer 170 is a great idea! Only in my case, I would have to spring for the DisKlavier E3 installed as I don't play. BUT, it would certainly be the ultimate "hi-fi" system. No doubt there! A Martin D-45 would be nice to - if I could only play one, but there is, to my knowledge, no such thing as a "DiskGuitar". George Link to comment

Ajax
Full boat Linn Sondek LP12. About $16,000. I foolishly traded my Linn Sundeck LP12 with Ittok arm (purchased from London's Graham HiFi in 1983) for a pair of speakers in 1991. Reminds me of the movie Dumb and Dumber with me playing both parts. Played through a Naim Nait amp into a pair of massive Tannoy Ardent speakers it produced glorious sound. I'd be happy just to get it back and play it through my Devialet 200 in a personalised listening room properly treated. LOUNGE: Mac Mini - Audirvana - Devialet 200 - ATOHM GT1 Speakers OFFICE : Mac Mini - Audirvana - Benchmark DAC1HDR - ADAM A7 Active Monitors TRAVEL : MacBook Air - Dragonfly V1.2 DAC - Sennheiser HD 650 BEACH : iPhone 6 - HRT iStreamer DAC - Akimate Micro + powered speakers Link to comment
