I am building a computer for HQPlayer and I wonder which is the best CPU (up to now) I should use. The options I look at are either intel 7th generation (6700k, 7700k), 8th generation (8700k) or 9th generation (x series). Is there a significant difference that makes any of them the best choice? I do want to maximize performance of up sampling to DSD512 with best modes (XTR) possible. It should be noted a good GPU will be in use as well (either GTX 1070 or 1080). BTW, if AMD has any competitive CPU that matches or even performs better it can be an option.

Hi , the reason I started this topic was because of the question I had in my mind and couldn't find an answer elsewhere . I have a ifi nano idsd dac and because of firmware limitation (5.2 vs 5.3) I have to choose between MQA decoder or DSD256 in DoP mode . since I have a roon hqplayer setup , I wanted to ask if it is worth to stick with mqa and DSD128 DoP or it is better to use no-mqa and DSD256 DoP and upsample everything (mqa and non-mqa songs) with this setting in hqplayer ? p.s : Sorry for my rusty English 😬🙏

I have been using Roon+HQPlayer combo with my audio setup on a Raspberry Pi 4b running NAA for a good several months until this issue came up recently... It occurs randomly - sometimes after a 5 minutes normal playback, sometimes 20 minutes. Totally unpredictable. Though it is not catastrophically fatal, any help or advice is appreciated. What I know is that sound coming from my headphones stops all in a sudden, playback time indicator in Roon and HQPlayer stops as well. If I immediately open HQPlayer's settings panel at this moment, I can see that the RPi entry in output

I'm selling a Sonore ultraRendu network streamer in good condition (two small scratches on the top of the enclosure). This is one of the most versatile streamers on the market, having multiple output modes - including NAA for HQPlayer. I'm providing a Sonore DC-4 power cable, iFi iPower 9V wall wart adapter and an Uptone LPS-1 power supply. The LPS-1 is unfortunately working a bit hectic as of late, so I'm offering this as free. Optionally I can offer an Sbooster Ultra MKI 9V linear power supply for the ultraRendu. I'm providing original boxes to all components. I'm also providing two sets of SD cards with Sonicorbiter OS 2.7 and 2.8 separately. The price of the ultraRendu package (rendu+dc4+ifi+lps-1+2 SD cards) is 600 USD, additionally the Sbooster would cost 200 USD. Buyer pays shipping and PayPal fees. It is shipping from Europe.600.00 USD

Hi All, I decided to completely re-write my iTunes to HQPlayer front end. The new version is attached. The interface for choosing preferences is now based on Obj-C. This has allowed me to present all prefs in a single window. Once your prefs are set you can choose to not show these prefs again. If you do that the only way to get them back will be to delete the .plist file in your ~Library/iTunes/Scripts folder. This feature was suggested by Carl for headless server operation. Thanks Carl and thanks also for your testing and feedback during this d

My HQPlayer 4 Desktop works fine in W2019 Core. But I can't start the client. Everytime I enter the exe command, it ended and nothing happened. Did I miss something? My other question is can I run the Client elsewhere and connect to the server in W2019 Core. It didn't seem to work. Cheers.

Only "civilian level" pc knowledge skills, by no means a computer whizz. I use ROON for Streaming Qobuz and my small collection of flac files on a usb drive. My current setup is an Intel i5-7500 pc @3.4GHz with 16GB ram & NVidia GTX 1060 (my general purpose living room pc which I use for browsing, Netflix etc) running Win10 pro. This currently runs my ROON Core and usb connected to my SMSL M8A usb dac & a trial version of HQPlayer. I have now just got a NUC8i7BEH on which my son installed ROCK (not yet put in hifi rig). Also now have just got a RPi4b for Ropiee

I've just completed the process of putting together a dedicated machine to run Roon + HQPlayer. I'm upsampling everything to DSD 512 (which I feed into a T+A DAC 8 DSD). The OS is W10 (Enterprise) and I've already removed a lot of applications which I will not be using (like One Drive, Skype et al). In this context, and while I'm in awe with the SQ, I would like to get the last drop of performance and Fidelizer or Audiophile Optimizer seem to be the most widely used options. Which one do you think will work best with W10? Thanks!

Hi, I wonder if someone could provide a step-by-step guide to achieving room correction using REW and HQ Player. I tried to find a tutorial but the information is scarce and spread all over the web... It's been years since I last used REW to measure the frequency response at the listening spot. I have a mic, REW and I'm ready to go. Thanks, Ricardo

There's Nyquist, there's the actual bandwidth limited range in relation with the actual microphones range and arguments for 192 helping reconstructing transients. However there might be a better argument for using even more space disk : multichannel even for stereo. I'm convinced that what I discovered with MCH Electric Ladyland goes far beyond eventual differences in remastering talents or marketing strategies (Bernie Grundman signs the Stereo that is soso while Eddie Kramer signs the MCH ; the latter supervised the gorgeous Mono LP Axis signed by the former who delivers a soso Mo

If there's anyone on this forum who is successfully using HQPlayer with a Chord Hugo 2 dac, I'd appreciate your help. I have HQPlayer Desktop installed on an Intel NUC running Windows 10. This is connected to the Hugo 2 via USB. Looking at the settings, HQPlayer appears to identify the dac correctly. When I select a track, HQPlayer appears to play it. The problem is, the dac is completely silent. Since other media players work with the Hugo 2, I believe the Windows drivers are correctly installed. I thought the NUC might be the problem, but my Windows 10 laptop produces

This is a pictorial comparison of Windows audio players, including screen views, unique features, and support environment. It is by no means complete but should give you a general idea of what the different audio players look like, some unique features, and a snap of their support forums. The audio players include HQPlayer (mainly the Client), Roon, Audirvana Plus for Windows, and JRiver Media Center. Since the latest Roon update my single PC setup running AO / Roon / Tidal / HQP is not working anymore on Windows Server 2016. Roon did not provide a solution so far. The above mentioned combination does still work on Windows 10. As a result I' ve to decide to step back to Windows 10 or stay on W2016S and remove HQP from the set up and upsample via Roon instead. Would like to hear your opinion which option would resultaten in the best sound quality. Thanks in advance, Benno

Dear all, I'm running HQPlayer in combination with Roon and Tidal on Windows Server 2016. (Total set-up: ASUS ROG I7 / WS2016 / FP / AO / Roon Server / Tidal / HQP / Singxer SU-1 / Gustard X-20 Pro). Since the latest Roon update (1.6 build 401) playback stops after the first track. The status bar in Roon is not moving at all and stays on the start position. With previous releases I've never had this issue. From several tests I learned that the set-up does work properly when HQP is installed on Windows 10 but not when it is installed on Windows Server 2016. Ar

I accidentally contacted the HQPlayer player software seven years ago. By using the understanding, it is considered that HQPlayer is the best way to improve digital audio playback. Both of my Topping NX4 DSD players have been returned to point of sale, and in their place is a new Topping DX3 Pro player, The DX3 Pro solution is looking much better straight away than the predecessor, with one exception. Playback of 128fs music files are fine, but playback of 256fs files are continually stuttering. I'm attaching a screenshot of settings of HQ player with the hope that someone would be able shed some light on this anomaly. For now I'm simply trying to determine if it's a settings issue in HQP, or if the new player is at fault.

I have downloaded the trial version of HQPlayer, but cannot get it to work with my network streamer, the SOtM SMS-200 Ultra. The SOtM replaces a computer in my main system where the SOtM is installed. The SOtM is connected into my router by ethernet. HQPlayer is installed on an iMac (in another room with the router), also connected by ethernet to the router. I have enabled HQPlayer in the Eunhasu.local GUI, which says it's active, started HQPlayer on the iMac, and now I'm stuck. I'm also a Roon user and my Roon core is on the iMac and this works very well in the same way. Can someone please po

hqplayer hqplayer settings for t&a 8 dsd dac
Daveyu posted a topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Apologies if this question has been asked before but can I have the recommended settings For hqplayer upsampling of pcm to dsd with the t&a 8 dsd dac Thanks -
I plan on building a PC which will be used as a source for my DAC. Initially I planned on doing a fully fanless PC, but due to the HQPlayer's processing requirements I will have to go with Nvidia Pascal which has a fan. Hopefully there is some version which comes with a "silent" fan. So, I basically made a list of components, but I am not sure if all this will work together and if someone could check the list and/or add any suggestion I would appreciate it. Here we go: 1. Case: Streacom FC5WS EVO This is a fanless case which supports CPUs with 65W TDP 2. Power supply: HDPLEX HiFi 30

I am trying to setup HQPlayer on windows 10 with another windows 10 as NAA. I am running the networkauodiod.exe on the NAA PC and try to connect from the other PC. No matter what I do I the HQPlayer cannot see the NAA. I tried to add firewall permissions, run without antivirus but with not success. Any ideas?

What is a good approach to listening to DSD files (.dsf mainly) with a Chord DAVE? Edited: (my error in setting things up).

Dear Audiophiles, I've been using fb2000 for long time, just try HQPlayer for few days. I have a strange problem when playing DSD64 file. - When play on HQPlayer version 2.8.0, uncheck DirectSDM, filter = poly-sinc-short-mp, modulator= DSD5, rate = 5644800 , mode = SDM (DSD), the sound is very good - On the latest version 3.19.1 (same PC) also uncheck DirectSDM, filter = poly-sinc-short-mp, modulator= DSD5, rate = Auto , mode = SDM (DSD), the sound is so terrible. My GPU is nVidia GTX 1060 3GB. Do you know what the problem is and how to solve it?

Hi All, I have for some time now been considering designing a DAC that is capable of only one sample rate playback - so as to optimize the circuitry for this particular sample rate. Yet, to make this feasible in practice I will have to use my computer to perform the sample rate conversion from any and all of the sources that I would like to play. And this may include tidal, CD, youtube, the National Danish Radio, etc ... I have previously asked Miska (the HQPlayer developer) if it would be possible to stream music from these sources using HQPlayer as the "s
