  1. There's Nyquist, there's the actual bandwidth limited range in relation with the actual microphones range and arguments for 192 helping reconstructing transients. However there might be a better argument for using even more space disk : multichannel even for stereo. I'm convinced that what I discovered with MCH Electric Ladyland goes far beyond eventual differences in remastering talents or marketing strategies (Bernie Grundman signs the Stereo that is soso while Eddie Kramer signs the MCH ; the latter supervised the gorgeous Mono LP Axis signed by the former who delivers a soso Mono Mix in the recent SACD where the Stereo shines...). Fact is MCH is more than 2.5 x heavier than the Stereo and I bet it's better use of space than 192 vs 96. Maybe it is also due to LFE and engineers daring to go deep low but MCH downfolded into Stereo via HQP offers aural sculptures of the bass line and of the kick drum that are really reminiscent of live gigs impressions. Even soundstage is deeper that what I'm accustomed to. I'm thus starting a journey into MCH (to be played on my stereo) and suggestions and comments are welcome. As of Rock/Pop I start with https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/TabbedPollChart.htm Edited on December the 5th : I have not experimented with Classical or Acoustic Jazz but dig that when MCH aims at recreating natural acoustics, reverb, etc, down mixing to Stereo is a non sense. However, when reproducing (better, those who know say) the natural acoustics of the concert hall etc is not the goal, ie with Talking Heads, Steely Dan or Bjork, MCH to Stereo offers better bass delineation, smoother and more natural vocals and more noticeable soundstage vs the standard Stereo.

Now for Frequency Plots of Track 11 "Sneak": On the first frequency plot you can see the microphones response is nearly 35Khz. To the left of the second frequency plot you can see the rising frequency response and increased ultrasonic noise floor caused by post processing of the dummy head frequency rolloff. To the right you can see the characteristic apodizing digital filter used in the MSB Studio ADC (I can recognize this response now as unique among ADCs used by studios)
  3. $595 plus $15 shipping USPS priority. I have a Bladelius USB DAC for sale in the U.S. This DAC was designed in Sweden, but manufactured in California. Uses XMOS USB receiver chip to play asynchronous 24/192 files. MAC OSX 10.6 or above does not require a driver. Windows XP, Vista or 7 requires the included USB 2.0 driver (on the included USB stick). I have added the latest firmware update to the DAC, so it is ready to go. I have decided to purchase a Bel Canto Ref USB to SPDIF converter to go with my Bel Canto DAC3. Let me know if you have any questions.
  4. Mine arrives any day. It handles 24/192 (a first for me) but I have to wonder if even Schiit can pull off a $150 DAC that can translate enough of that resolution to make it worth the downloads.   5. Hi all - Just picked up a Raspberry Pi 3 to use in my bedroom system, strictly over wifi. I find that I can cleanly stream 16/44 via mpd and Roon with no issue. When I get to 24/192 though, Roon tends to handle it well (some network slowness, but I can typically play the files cleanly). mpd chokes though. I'm playing with the buffering settings there without success so far, but this is an unexpected situation re: mpd. I'e got a Beaglebone Black in my main rig and it runs 24/192 flawlessly, though it uses Ethernet and applies the performance governor. I've tried changing the governor on the Pi as well, but that seems to cause major throttling (I've got some heat sinks en route to test out). But since Roon is generally OK, this seems more like a wifi throughput issue - or mpd buffering issue - than a CPU issue. Happy to hear any thoughts. Pi is running headless, removed all traces of X server. I do keep Roon Bridge running though. Thanks all! Justin
