Snowmonkey
Kapture by Sandy Evans Trio with Bobby Singh & Sarangan Sriranganathan I love the way the improvisational styles of modern jazz and classical-style Indian music can blend so well. This album is a great example. I heard them performing at a club in Sydney a couple of nights ago and found this album on Bandcamp as soon as I got home. christopher3393
Guillaume de Machaut: Motets The Hilliard Ensemble http://www.allmusic.com/album/guillaume-de-machaut-motets-mw0000138511 https://www.ecmrecords.com/catalogue/143038752407/guillaume-de-machaut-motets-the-hilliard-ensemble https://ecmreviews.com/2012/02/24/machaut-motets/ This is the most celebrated of the Machaut motet recordings available. No instrumental accompaniment, all-male voices, a slightly slower pace, and more of a melancholic feeling. Well performed and well recorded, but 62 minutes straight is heavy (add to this that ever-so-slight tendency of the Hilliards to enunciate in a manner that reminds me just a little of Kermit the Frog's voice). Not my personal favorite. Will need to spend more time with the motets to sort this out. Link to comment

Roch This is a question of personal taste of course. I do not believe I want a cover of Beethoven Concerto with an arse on it. I do not need a new edition of Plato' dialogues with genitals depicted on a cover as well for instance, even if one may find it in museums. Link to comment

But I can not see on the cover of this album anything pornographic. If it had been JL's arse (of which she is not to blame) my opinion could be different. There are a lot of CD cover art that show genitals (from antique art paintings), but I will not posting them. Anyway, from my side I finish this discussion on this a very calm and interesting thread. sphinxsix
Rock album cover AD 1968 Jazz (let's say) album cover AD 2012 Inlay A typical classical female pianist album cover AD 2021.? (with her on the piano.?) How about older generation male musicians, will some be brave enough to follow Terry Jones' example.? But seriously.. I don't like Nathan Milstein's album cover 'cause: 1. It's so shamelessly commercial 2. The photography is simply a bad, not interesting one IMO 3. My first thought when I saw the photo for the first time was - 'Nathan looks quite good from the back, a bit feminine though'.. But I'm afraid this is the direction in which the classical covers may change in the near future. So maybe ..it's better to get ready, guys.. Link to comment

Snowmonkey
Beautiful body, but totally gratuitous. Also a total cliché, as the resemblance of the violin and cello to the female form has been noted many times before (anyone seen Mozart in the Jungle?) Sorta the classical music version of Hooters.
