Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton et al.: Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton Play The Blues. XLD conversion redbook CD to AIFF. Masterful renditions of a variety of musical styles with Marsalis and Clapton, Taj Mahal et al. taking the genres to a powerful presentation of musicality and expression of the human spirit. Amen.

The Doors: The Best Of The Doors: XLD conversion redbook CD to AIFF. While I have the very excellent Perception collection (6CD/6DVD Box Set, Limited Edition, Original Recording Remastered] (M.ch) I decided to play this set which as redbook CDs in my system sounds very enjoyable.

Enjoying the music,

Richard

Makes me want to pull out my GNR Greatest Hits CD. Not a huge follower of the band but I like the Greatest Hits as it has their most popular songs.

Jsmith- thanks for the post- I was not aware of this Killing Joke album and will check it out. I have several of their older albums that I quite enjoy. I saw them in concert back in the 80's and they put on a great show.

Wow... amazing album. Love Little Feat and have most of their albums? Any other recommendations in the southern rock genre?

I'm big on Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, The Charlie Daniels Band & Little Feat but always looking for more recommendations.

Ryan Bingham - more western than Southern, but then Feat was based in DC, so not that Southern either. Subdudes are another recommendation. But tough (impossible, really) to equal Feat back in the day with Lowell, and not much comes close to Dixie Chicken.

Feat was in my college rotation for probably 90% of the time. Lowell was a tier one musical genius IMHO (in that "top under-rated" list like Ray Davies or Harry Nilsson). I saw them a few times, including the final tour (Waiting For Columbus recorded during that tour) with LG. His passing hit me like Lennon's. They are still a fun band, but nothin like the Lowell-era. Even side projects like them backing Robert Palmer's early albums...amazing music. I just this past week or so got on another Little Feat jag and have been playing them a LOT. :)

Edit: I am not really a fan of Southern rock at all...I don't consider Little Feat (or CCR) to be southern.

Enjoying the flow of music. Doesn't get any better.

Roots rock, country rock, blues rock, swamp rock, southern rock, Americana, etc. are the genres associated with such acts. Anyways I only mean I like that sound (never mind the genre generalizations) and I'm looking to discover more artists/bands with a similar sound.

Check out early 38 Special albums. After Special forces, they went the fm rock way...

Also worth checking out: Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Outlaws.
