REShaman
I am currently listening to Randy Newman 12 Songs an XLD rip to AIFF from the Audio Fidelity remaster by Steve Hoffman. With regards to the new Diana Krall I have yet to download this from HD Tracks but intend to. I guess when you say it doesn't feature standards it will depend on your definition of standards as I thought this album featured all songs from the 20`s and 30`s. You are correct: It does feature songs from the 20 and 30s as referred to at HDtracks and Amazon. Also a departure from Krall's repetoire, which is not a bad thing. Perhaps I was too casual with my remarks. Borrowing from Wikipedia by standards I meant "American standards. More generally, the term "standard" can be applied to any popular song that has become very widely known within mainstream culture." Hence for me Glad Rag Doll whenever written would not be a standard as I meant, but Garden In The Rain and Let It Rain. Also for my perspective The American Songbook would be my reference for American Standards, i.e., the likes of Gershwin, Berlin, Porter. You know where what I am saying. My intention was not to dismiss Diana Krall's new album merely to mark out, perhaps with ambiguous comment, that departure from the many songs, arrangements and even personnel. Excuse the confusion, and enjoy the music, Richard Link to comment

master
I'm still digging into SRV after so many years. Amazing guitarist and musician... too bad his life was cut short or else he might have given so much more divine music to enjoy... REShaman
Jason Vitelli: Confluence. Soundkeeper Recordings release of 24/192 .aif files-on-disc DVD-R added to iTunes played through Amarra Symphony (Build4422). My collection is now up-to-date with our own Barry Diament's productions as producer, engineer and founder of Soundkeeper Recordings. Hi-Res SQ at it's best. One criteria for highly quality, non-compressed, production/SQ is the need for me to turn up the volume gain and still discern SQ without any aural deterioration / distraction. another_kiwi
A 3CD collection of Tony Joe White, bought today, audio quality not the best, ok it was cheap (10bucks for 3 cd's). I hear a bit of distortion/crackle(?) on the high end in some songs. Ripped to aiff with xld. Same on two sets of headphones (HD598's and Grado SR60's). Still a good listen though, be alright for speakers/party scenario I suspect. Also, a blast from the past (used to have on vinyl) now on Cd with a second disc of demo/early versions etc. Very good.
