Fabulous version of latest Beethoven's Quartet, Op.131 from Vlach Quartet. Silky, smooth and fluid. Recording was made in early 60s, but sounds very fine. Highly recommended.

Takács Q provides very good and well known version of Beethoven Quartets, including Op. 131. One of the best in modern times.

Thoroughly enjoyed that, mostly for the keyboard played by Earl Vandyke. I'm a sucker for the B-3 :)

Having listened to this critically a couple more times, I must say this is an outstanding Mahler 8th. Do give this a listen and see what you think.

 

Not quite up there with Solti/Chicago, but the best modern version I’ve heard. 
 

I understand the criticism of Vänskä’s Mahler recordings to date being a bit reserved, but this 8th is exciting and exuberant!

This is the best Mahler 8th I have listened to. Moreover, in other performances I have found it difficult to appreciate this symphony at all, it has been the least attractive of all M. symphonies for me since the very first listening to Kubelik's LP in the 80s. In fact, Vänskä revealed this work for me.
