"The overwhelming majority [of audiophiles] have very little knowledge, if any, about the most basic principles and operating characteristics of audio equipment. They often base their purchasing decisions on hearsay, and the preaching of media sages. Unfortunately, because of commercial considerations, much information is rooted in increasing revenue, not in assisting the audiophile. It seems as if the only requirements for becoming an "authority" in the world of audio is a keyboard."

I like country. In particular when it's performed by FZ :D

The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music.

                                                                          ―  William Shakespeare.

i always wondered why the "& Western" got dropped from "Country & Western". Growing up in the northeast US, the only western music I knew were the recordings by Hollywood singing cowboys (Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, etc.) that I found in my parents' record collection. Fun stuff, and I don't know anyone who listens to it today.

For example:

In the early 80s I was a smartass kid working in the oil patch in North Dakota and Montana. One day on a job I wondered aloud why it was that no matter where you went you could always manage to tune in a radio station playing country music. An older fellow on the crew, Whitey (that was really his name), said well, I guess it's because that's what people like. Tough to argue with that. And now I like (some of) it too.
