I installed the drivers months ago when I bought the DAC. The list does not have Schiit USB it has ASIO USB

My system worked fine up untill a couple of hqplayer upgrades ago.

Which version are you running?  Can you go back to your previous version?

Quick question: I am finished with Roon. I *love* the sound I get with HQPlayer.

Is there another UI/Library alternative to use with HQ Player, other than Roon?

Thanks, in advance.

I'v been having nothing but trouble with playing files either from my directory or from the library in hqplayer. I think it is a windows10 issue. I think win10 and hqplayer aren't communicating too well. Considering installing Linux and dual booting. Or going back to windows 7 on a dual boot as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been running Win 10 pro and having zero issues (not updated to Creators)

Try JRiver as a front end (jremote is wonderful app and to tie to HQP is not a big deal.  Geoff's set of files also allows for custom HQP settings based on anything, like genre)

Or for Windows there's Muso too.

I'm sure you know that win 10 will not allow you to defer updates for long. My alternatives at this time is to install linux ubuntu, or use a hard disk that has win 7 on it. Win 7 is easy for me and I wouldn't have to buy another license for hqplayer. Can someone tell me if sound quality on win 7 is comparable to ubuntu?

You can find info on CA about both.

I've been trying to find an alternative as well but sadly for me, there just isnt an interface available that is as user friendly and slick as Roon.  Plus I need to have an app so I can run it on my tablet.  Sadly, it seems I will continue to pay over $100 per year for Roon....my wallet aches.

12TB NAS >> i7-6700 Server/Control PC >> i3-5015u NAA >> Singxer SU-1 DDC (modded) >> Holo Spring L3 DAC >> Accustic Arts Power 1 int amp >> Sonus Faber Guaneri Evolution speakers + REL T/5i sub (x2)

Other components:

UpTone Audio LPS1.2/IsoRegen, Fiber Switch and FMC, Windows Server 2016 OS, Audiophile Optimizer 3.0, Fidelizer Pro 6, HQ Player, Roonserver, PS Audio P3 AC regenerator, HDPlex 400W ATX & 200W Linear PSU, Light Harmonic Lightspeed Split USB cable, Synergistic Research Tungsten AC power cords, Tara Labs The One speaker cables, Tara Labs The Two Extended with HFX Station IC, Oyaide R1 outlets, Stillpoints Ultra Mini footers, Hi-Fi Tuning fuses, Vicoustic/RealTraps/GIK room treatments

Seriously, Geoffrey's JRiver solution is slick, and it allows JRemote to be your tablet remote.  There is no better tablet remote than JRemote IMHO.

I would definitely like to have that option.  Pandora streams clip with my Inguz installation in LMS and if LMS can pass Pandora to HQPlayer, I would be very happy. I can use stream-through in Pure Music to hijack the Pandora desktop player stream, but I have had problems with that too. It really is a shame that Pandora won't just open their API to Roon, but that's a complaint for another day.

You can use JRiver as ted_b mentioned or you can use hqplayer embedded with Jriver which is what I use with Jr emote on ios and eos remote on android

Appreciate the reply. I am a Mac user, unfortunately, so I don't know if your answer still applies. I know there is a Mac version of JRMC, but my early experiences with that were not positive.

I am part way through my 30 day HQPlayer 'free trial' and enjoying what I'm hearing so far.  Currently I am using a Windows 10 PC, microRendu, Mutec MC3+USB to Devialet set up.

Recently I have been thinking about upgrading the 'front end' of my system and have been pondering what might be the best sounding solution, keeping with an 'end point' set up.  So what is the highest possiblle quality NAA compatible end point?  One obvious option is the SMS-200Ultra. (Maybe with Mutec REF10 and my existing MC3)  Is there anything superior?

Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade.  Plus Pro-Ject Signature 12 TT for playing my 'legacy' vinyl collection. Desktop system; RME ADI-2 DAC fs, Meze Empyrean headphones.

There is the ultraRendu about to come out. If you have a big budget, there is the dCS network bridge.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

I was very interested in the Network bridge as the Devialet seams to work much better via Its AES/EBU input.  The problem is that although it is 'Roon Ready', it is not NAA compatible.....

It will be interesting to see how the ultraRendu performs, time will tell, although the sMS-200 edges ahead on spec currently as it has the option for clock input.

In case someone might find it useful:

I had an issue with occasional dropouts in HQP playback from my I7 4790k/780ti computer. I've tested everything, from USB cables to disabling all running software. Even used gigabit ethernet to an NAA machine. Nothing seemed to help. Disk speed was not a problem (same issue from RAM disk). CPU utilization was around 20-22%, not enough to overload any of the cores. GPU enabled or disabled, same issue.

Just solved the issue by running LatencyMon freeware from resplendence.com that monitors Windows for any issues that might affect real time audio or video playback.

Turns out HQPlayer.exe was experiencing a large number of hard page faults while running. Easy solution: I disabled paging file altogether, since I have 16GB of RAM. No page faults now, and no more drop-outs!  Simply awesome!

While using LatencyMon, I also discovered a large number of interrupts from DirectX, USB, and Nvidia drivers. Nvidia I understand, this is related to using CUDA in HQP.

DirectX drivers is strange, I have not found a way to reduce interrupt latency there. USB is also strange, since I don't have anything but the keyboard and a mouse plugged into this PC on USB. HQP is connected to NAA over ethernet. In any case, these are not significant, as there are no more dropouts in the HQP playback!
