sphinxsix
I wasn't into flamenco vocalists until I heard some Camarón recordings. I'd say for me he is Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan of flamenco (calling @Jud who as AFAIR wanted to be called if the later name was mentioned) Nikhil 1 Link to comment

I'm not an expert here so I will ask you guys (I know eg@elcorso and @semente know much more than me on the topic) - is there a contemporary flamenco guitarist which could be compared to Paco de Lucia? What are your flamenco 'desert island' albums? Link to comment

What are your flamenco 'desert island' albums? Vol 2 (there are 3 Tomatito & Michel Camilo) is not strictly Flamenco. I don't know any contemporary flamenco guitarist that could be compared to Paco de Lucia. There are several imitators that emerged when he put the new Flamenco into fashion. He transformed Flamenco as today, but doesn't match my taste in traditional Flamenco. I like more the traditional. It's a long time I don't visit Spain! This is a good Flamenco available chez Qobuz: Roch sphinxsix 1 Link to comment

Her voice reminds me of Cassandra Wilson, have a listen for yourselves. The Moluccas has played an enormous role in the history of modern civilization, of which many are unaware. That's where some important spices came into being, that's why other name is The Spice Islands. Spices were one of the most important reasons for the Age of Discoveries. And the wars associated with them, the extermination of the native inhabitants of remote areas, religious expansion, etc. By the way, I just got back from that part of the world a couple of days ago. christopher3393 and sphinxsix 1 1 Link to comment
