Popular Post sphinxsix
Sadly, the pioneer of Afro-jazz, funk and traditional music of Cameroon - Makossa fusion Manu Dibango passed away today after contracting coronavirus at the age of 86. I've seen him live long ago. From his 'Polysonik' album, the opening piece with rappers. 'Electric Africa' produced by Bill Laswell feat. Herbie Hancock, Bernie Worrell, Nicky Skopelitis, Mory Kante and others. I just hope there will be very few victims of the pandemic in the music world. austinpop and christopher3393 2 Link to comment
Popular Post sphinxsix
Kanwar Grewal - a sufi vocalist from Punjab. Quote Kanwar Grewal, born in Village Mehma Sawai of District Bathinda in Punjab at Sardar Beant Singh and Manjit Kaur’s home, has started learning music when he was in fourth class. He learned basics of music from Vijay Kumar Sachdeva. Kanwar Grewal got his graduation done with music subjects from SBS college Kotkapura and M.A. (Music vocal) in 2006 from Punjabi University Patiala. He also rendered his services as a background music producer from year 2006 to 2012 after his Post Graduation. He stepped into professional singing with his soulful song “MAAF KARIN RABBA” being promoted on Chandigarh Doordarshan. After that he released his song “AKHAAN” on Social sites, which was highly appreciated by each generation. After that his performance at Nakodar Mela established him as a sufi singer. Alongside his live shows he released his Debut album on 22nd July,2013 titled as “AKHAAN” with “FINETONE” company. This album was a milestone in sufi genre. And his second album named as “JOGINATH” was released by Speed Records on 20 December, 2013. So year 2013 had placed this versatile Singer on new heights. Another single “RANJHEYA VE” was added in the list in June,2014. Kanwar Grewal started spreading his soulful singing over the boundaries since August, 2014 with his first tour to UK, Followed by his second tour to Canada in October,2014. His latest Single was “TICKETAN DO” from “T-SERIES”. This way Kanwar Grewal has set a new milestone of sufi singing in this era of commercial music. I've never thought I'd post a clip from 'Voice of Punjab' anywhere, but just listen to this.. austinpop and semente 1 1 Link to comment

I am positive that a blind test would prove this as a person blindfolded could not tell the difference between a Friday night drunken house party, and the noise made by two girls aged 6 and 8 after being quarantined inside for a few weeks... sphinxsix, christopher3393 and Audiophile Neuroscience 3 No electron left behind. It does make traditional folk performances sound tepid. It's an old song, 1600's probably. Might have been a sailor's song originally. AudioDoctor, sphinxsix and semente 1 2 Link to comment
