matthias
Hi, looking for audiophile USB-C to USB-C cables with a minimum length of 1,5m or 5 feet for connecting a new MacBook Pro to an USB-C DAC. Any recommendations? Thanks Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
There are two USB-C to USB-C from Wireworld but the maximum length is 1 meter: https://www.wireworldcable.com/hi-res-digital-audio-cables.html#usb3.1 Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". Ralf11
do you know if the USB input has any noise isolation circuitry? you can always wait for an audiophile cable to be introduced, then do a listening test comparison - I advise waiting until such cables are easily returnable too or... buy a DAC that is isolated for sure if you can find a USB-3 one... matthias 1 Link to comment
matthias
It is a pity that Ghent Audio do not offer USB-C cables but they offer DC cables with USB-C connectors. So it does not seem to be a problem of soldering the USB-C connector. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment

Popular Post The Computer Audiophile
I purchased a few of the Apple 3 meter USB-C to USB-C cables. Very well made and receive good score here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vnpEXfo2HCGADdd9G2x9dMDWqENiY2kgBJUu29f_TX8/pubhtml By the way, I’d love to see a discussion about electrical noise in USB-C. semente and matthias 1 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

What I've seen so far, the most common problem is 8 kHz UAC packet rate leaking to the analog output. I doubt DACs using type-C connector are actually in SuperSpeed+ mode, but instead use type-C only for size and possibly higher current capacity reasons. Why do you assume it would be detrimental? What if it lifts veils and gives tighter bass? lucretius and JezQ 2 Link to comment

The USB 3 transmitter did interfere with my USB receiver/dongle for wireless keyboard/mouse. However, those two were very close to each other. The Computer Audiophile 1 mQa is dead! Link to comment

IMO, if they make USB-C cables they should offer it on their HP. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
seeteeyou
This one seemed to be fine if we're getting something for a portable rig https://www.adl-av.com/products/cables/usb/GT-C2NCF/ https://www.phileweb.com/news/audio/202109/14/22758.html https://www.adl-av.com/pdf/Stereo 2021 -NOVEMBER -JP(GT-C2 NCF 0.14M).pdf Though I actually ordered two of them recently, IMHO it's more flexible to combine such cable with AudioQuest Dragon Tail USB Extender http://www.truim.jp/blog/?p=2622 It seemed to be just a tiny little bit better than Sablon (maybe 2020?) according to the preferences of this particular owner https://twitter.com/Lnde20W8kWvMeAM/status/1423816175469793280 https://twitter.com/Lnde20W8kWvMeAM/status/1445369390917046276 Link to comment

JoeWhip
I have ordered a usb c to b cable , 2M , from DH Labs in Florida. I will post my impressions of it when I write an article on the use of a MacBook Pro with the M1 chip as a music server. Right now, I am using a a to b cable with the Apple c to a dongle. It will be interesting what differences I hear. matthias 1 Link to comment
Therandyman
I purchased a USB C to C Cinnamon cable from AudioQuest to connect my Chord Mojo 2 to my MacBook Air. It works great, and I am ordering another similar USB C to B cable to attach my MacBook Air to my DACMagic 200. I am using Silver Streaks between that DAC and my McIntosh headphone amp, but I don’t think Silver Streak make USB cables. You will need a dealer to place the AudioQuest order, as they do not deal directly with the public for internet orders. I bought the 3/4 meter length, which is perfect. I think it cost $89.95 or so. Hope this helps! Link to comment
barrows
Nordost makes some very, very good USB cables. Some of their models are available with USB-C on one end, and I am sure that one could special order (through a Nordost dealer) a USB-C to USB-C of any model which is available with USB-C on one end. Nordost makes their cables in the US and can terminate to order. JoeWhip
Until my second cataract surgery in a couple of weeks it is really hard to sit down and write articles. So to update my last post, the DH Labs usb c to b cable is fantastic. The best one I have heard in my system. I asked about them doing a c to c version but was told no, as there is not enough demand. They have to make them in batches of3,000 to make it worthwhile. Audiophile c to c cables seem to be hard to come by. Maybe that will change before too long. Link to comment
Therandyman
Thanks, JoeWhip. I also called Kimber Kable. They normally carry C to C, but are out of the end connectors, and don’t know when they will be able to get more. They are also considerably more expensive than AudioQuest, and they told me that AudioQuest Cinnamon will make an excellent connector for my purposes (MacBook Air to Mojo2 DAC). I agree, and have ordered a second AudioQuest B to C cable. (I am using Kimber Kable to connect the a Cambridge Audio DAC to my McIntosh tube headphone amp. It is, as you would expect, an excellent connector!) Link to comment

Is is handmade from Gotham GAC-4/1, in my case 1,5m lenght with USB-A at the source and USB-C at the DAC. You can get USB-C to USB-C as well. The price/performance ratio is excellent, highly recommended 😃 Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
