Popular Post Bob Stern
Today's half price special is Sharon Bezaly (flute) and Vladimir Ashkenazy (piano) playing sonatas by Fauré, Franck and Prokofiev. I haven’t heard it yet, but it got rave reviews from all 3 critics who reviewed it for Fanfare magazine. http://www.eclassical.com/performers/bezaly-sharon/bezaly-ashkenazy-sonatas.html Jud and Peter Hyatt 1 1 HQPlayer (on 3.8 GHz 8-core i7 iMac 2020) > NAA (on 2012 Mac Mini i7) > RME ADI-2 v2 > Benchmark AHB-2 > Thiel 3.7 Link to comment
rando
RvB isn't quite back on the form we love but this one bears mention. Quote The Vol 1 in what was to be one of the biggest adventures in the history of BIS, and certainly the biggest co-operation between Japan and any other country in the history of recorded sound and a means to a huge cultural exchange, the Bach Coillegium Japan's Bach Cantata cycle. Here you can hear what so fascinated me that I went all-in into the "ridiculous", "are you totally daft", "everyone knows that Japanese can't sing in German" etc etc project that was just very recently brought to an end, after almost 19 years. So here it is, Volume 1, after having got the entire equipment through the Japanese Customs after endless negotiations, proudly produced by yours truly, RvB Musicophile 1 Link to comment

Moosbrugger
eClassical has the Vanska/MSO Beethoven cycle today for $25 studio quality; $17 CD quality. I already have the cycle from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kleiber's 5 & &; a terrific new recording of 5 & 7 from the NY Philharmonic and an LSo recording of 3. But is this too good to pass up at this price? A Hudson Valley Home: Kichels -- A Recipe from the Old Country Link to comment
Musicophile
There is no shortage of good contemporary Beethoven recordings, but this is clearly one of the better ones, with well recorded BIS SQ. At that price I wouldn’t hesitate. Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
