Polestar [ pohl-stahr ]
noun
- something that serves as a guiding principle.
- something that is the center of attention or attraction.
Polestar was created to satisfy the need for quick information, sourced from a wide group of people. Consider it a database of products and user reviews that can be searched for information and read without watching a twenty minute video or reading a treatise. Many people check Amazon for quick product reviews and star ratings. Fortunately Amazon doesn't care about HiFi, but we do and Polestar is the place to find this information.
Audiophile Style will always have in-depth product reviews on its front page, but we are always limited by many factors including time & money, and no matter what, the information in articles comes from a limited pool of writers.
With Polestar Audiophile Style seeks to create the largest database of user reviews, focused solely on HiFi products. Many HiFi aficionados would love to write up something quick about their system components, a friend's components, a local dealer's components, or would love to attend an audio show and rate the components they heard. The problem has always been finding the best platform on which to write these short reviews and believe it or not, many people don't like the potentially combative audience of user forums.
Polestar solves both of these issues and more. The Polestar database contains brief descriptions of products, followed by user reviews and star ratings. There is no space for forum style comments, Polestar is all about reviews while the Audiophile Style forum remains the place for freeform discussions covering the entire audiophile continuum.
