The Samara Joy vocal on Solitude is fantastic. Wow.

I'm looking forward to her new album. Out 9/16 according to her website.

Yes it is! A new one from Monty Alexander on 8/19 as well featuring all vocals by him, some cuts it would appear from the rare To Nat with Love that was engineered by Jim Anderson.

This is great news as well!

There is a very interesting show on French radio - "La Tribune des Critiques de Disques" - a number of music critics and/or musicians compare different versions of the same work. This episode is about Rachmaninov's 3rd Concerto for Piano:

https://www.radiofrance.fr/francemusique/podcasts/la-tribune-des-critiques-de-disques/concerto-pour-piano-n03-de-serguei-rachmaninov-1350731

The web page gives a summary of their opinions, and it may be of interest to compare these different versions for yourself.

The critics present that day "preferred" this version: https://play.qobuz.com/album/bqeiuiqhlz9pb, but everyone is free to disagree, obviously. It is interesting listening to the comments as they do point out sometimes very different readings of the works by the interpreters.

Here are the other versions discussed on that show:

https://play.qobuz.com/album/s41vkbypyqema

https://play.qobuz.com/album/0002894789234

The main critique formulated concerning the Daniil Trifonov version is a lack of "integration" between the piano and the rest of the orchestra, as if they were playing seperately. On the other hand, they did find the orchestra to be very dynamic and "lively".

Wait, you're French???

That explains a lot... 👺

Am I French? Are you 12 years old? Who knows :)

Simply drawing a conclusion based on the fact pattern available to me:

1. You referenced a resource entirely in French

2. The French love of a good argument debate is well known

3. Your posts to this site show a similar temperament

Sorry if I reached an erroneous conclusion.

I referenced a resource in French but took the time to provide the links to the various album versions on Qobuz, and a short summary. I doubt it's the first time that a foreign language site is being mentioned on this forum. Also, have you heard of Google Translate?

The reason why I mentioned this site is because I find it interesting, and think others may find it interesting as well.

As for the resr, it seems to me that a forum is by definition a place for debate, where we can exchange points of view.

Got it!

By the way, I find that Deepl does a better job of machine translation than Google Translate, at least for the languages that I know.
