all300b
Nice album. Thanks for the review. As a far less accomplished drummer who also looks like an average dad at a little league game I am honored to be in such company. | "After listening a few times to the album via Qobuz streaming, I purchased the 24 bit / 96 kHz download." Uh-oh. So with a notch hi-fi system circa 2022, the local file STILL sounds better than the equivalent file streamed from Quboz / Tidal? This remains my experience as well - a small but perceivable difference - though I am open to the possibility of expectation bias. Wish there was some way to measure this difference- more difficult to cure a problem that cannot be objectively characterized. Link to comment

Some of us buy music because it's a better way to financially support the artist. And because buying means we will always have access to the music (unlike with streaming). Not necessarily b/c we think it sounds better. kenreau
Thanks for the review! I am so exited the sound quality lives up to Flea's proclamation and they are promoting this. Hopefully starting a new market or industry trend. Wouldn't it be cool if sound quality was hip in the major markets. I watched Flea's video promotion (on Insta) and you could see in his room a wall of vinyl in the background, tt and a couple of small tube mono blocks. I love it. Ranking the new album up there with BSSM and Californication is high praise indeed, also my favorites. I've got it on my shopping list. Thanks Kenreau Synology NAS> Aurender W20> AQ Wel AES/XLR> Devialet 200> AQ Castle Rock Bi-Wire> Vandersteen 5As. Link to comment

Popular Post Confused
Ah, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I must admit that I was very excited to see that a new album has been released. Reading the article got me thinking about when I first went to see them live. A quick think about who I went with and why, and I worked out that it would have been 1990. A quick check on line and I find that there is a record of the exact gig I attended, complete with photographs, amazing! http://www.rhcplivearchive.com/show/feb-11-1990-london-england-1084 This was as near as dammit 32 years ago, but I can still remember being slightly mesmerised by Flea in his nice white underpants. Although I am pleased to note that Flea has made enough money in the subsequent years to at least buy some proper clothes. I've had a listen to the new album this morning and vey much enjoyed it. I don't think it will make my top three Red Hot chili Pepper albums though. I am more of a Mother's Milk kind of guy. The new album is very good, but is kind of Red Peppers, with the Hot Chili bit having mellowed over the years. Maybe Flea is mellowing faster than I am? It looks like the UK currency has also mellowed a bit over the years also, £6 seems like rather good value. (actually, checking for inflation, this would be about £15 in today's money, which does actually seem like a bargain) Womaz, Josh Mound, Iving and 3 others 2 4 Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade. Plus Pro-Ject Signature 12 TT for playing my 'legacy' vinyl collection. Desktop system; RME ADI-2 DAC fs, Meze Empyrean headphones. Link to comment

feelingears
Rick Rubin..."artistic" choice... Okay, we all have our opinions and I will throw in two words that everyone will roll their eyes over, especially since you can now (years later) buy the remastered and "un-ruined un-Rubined" artistic expression of...Death Magnetic. (However, I won't be buying the MQA version. 😉) Sum>Frankenstein: JPlay/Audirvana/iTunes, Uptone EtherRegen+LPS-1.2, Rivo Streamer+Uptone JS-2, Schiit Yggdrasil LiM+Shunyata Delta XC, Linn LP12/Hercules II/Ittok/Denon DL-103R, ModWright LS 100, Pass XA25, Tellurium Black II, Monitor Audio Silver 500 on IsoAcoustics Gaias, Shunyata Delta XC, Transparent Audio, P12 power regenerator, and positive room attributes.
