AMD GPU CUDA competitor development for instance might require a partner program or 10,000. Or the EVGA CEO's pet audiophile projects. Food for thought. No need to reply off topic to HQP4 discussion. Pertinent here is the benchmarks used in your linked article don't reflect loads produced by HQP4. Also the synthetic limitations imposed on tested processors appear aimed to further site traffic more than define a substantial metric relevant to our usage. Nearly every outlet in possession of the new AMD chips is succumbing to inventive reporting. My initial Google search indicates that Intel Extreme Procs cost around $2K and run on $300+ motherboards. I won't spend that amount on any computer. Any computer you buy is almost immediately obsolete, so that kind of pricing doesn't make sense to me. If I were in a business situation where not having that processing power was costing me money, that would be a justification, but I'm not. The benchmarks and the synthetic limitations (good word choice!) in the linked article are meant to illustrate whether the new 7nm AMD chips process more Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) than the older 14nm process Intel CPU's. In other words, when equalized, which chips are more efficient. The AMD won that comparison. In fact, Forbes, PC World, Digital Trends, TechRadar, Tom's Guide and AnandTech (I could link more sources...) tested the new AMD chips against Intel without any synthetic limitations. All of them found that the new AMD chips clearly outperform comparable Intel chips in all situations where multi-threaded processing is involved. This was not surprising since AMD greatly improved the quality of their chips (read the articles for details, if you like), the quantity (12 - 16 vs 8 ) of their cores and they have 3x the cache of Intel's Extreme Procs. Only if single-threaded performance is your primary concern, is Intel currently the way to go. And this testing was performed with the currently available AMD 12 core chip. I'm holding out for their forthcoming 16 core chip. How well these new AMD chips will perform with HQP remains to be seen. Obviously, I like AMD, but whoever can make a reasonably priced chip that can do HQP EC DSD512 will get my money. Sorry if all of this is too far off-topic, but my current focus regarding HQP is finding a server powerful enough to make the most of the new EC modulators Jussi has recently created. rando 1 Roon Server: Core i7-3770S, WS2012 + AO => HQP Server: Core, i7-9700K, HQPlayer OS => NAA: Celeron NUC, HQP NAA => ISO Regen with UltraCap LPS 1.2 => Mapleshade USB Cable => Lampizator L4 DSD-Only Balanced DAC Preamp => Blue Jeans Belden Balanced Cables => Mivera PurePower SE Amp => Magnepan 3.7i Link to comment

Most of the load is on few cores and they lack clock frequency to push through and cap at 100%. Clocks end up being around 3.3 - 3.5 GHz with Turbo boost on that CPU. At this point, I'm happy if DSD256 works. I will certainly continue trying to make the algorithm spread the load better. k6davis and asdf1000 2 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment

Miska
Please, I'd rather not become generic Linux command line tech support over email either. I just don't have time for it.
