What capacitance value are you using ?

How a Digital Audio file sounds, or a Digital Video file looks, is governed to a large extent by the Power Supply area. All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file.

560uF (25v)

Try the music video at the attached link before and after changes. Boosting HF detail too much will lose it's lovely low end warmth. If you have gone a bit too far already this clip may show it.

It sounds WAY better if downloaded

I will try it when I am back in Sweden again in May. Right now I’m in China working abroad.

However, do remember that my setup is optimized for Tidal music streaming and actually sounds better with Tidal FLAC than local FLAC files in general.

Adding caps to LT results so far: Polymer on output of second LT sounds very nice. Sweet, musical, really really nice. No HF extension. If anything the opposite. Cymbals are *clean*. Adding another polymer to 1st LT output: punchier bass, HF a little sharp. Sounds more like typical polymer now. Also tried on 1st LT input, same result. Swapped this polymer for an Elna on 1st LT input (paralleled to stock 47uf tantalums). Interesting. The Silmic sound prevails - warm, enveloping, good bass, smooth. I'll leave it for now.

Summary: So far I think the polymer on the output closest to component is a keeper, and the caps before it in the chain are as sandyk has said, more adding the flavor of the cap chosen?

I am judging with Senn HD599s and Sabre dac. My 2 channel is not accessible these days, so testing tweaks is now much harder.

Important take away is that there is room for playing around with the LTs for personal taste.

Thanks for sharing wushuliu! ? Very interesting! I will try it is my setup and see if it’ll make a similar impact to SQ. I have also a couple of Silsmic II in a drawer collecting dust since I did’nt like how they performed on its own. It strongly suggests to me as well that the use of caps is like mixing a great coctail. You’ll need the perfect mix to get what you’re after! ??

For example, a comparison of the JSSG ET02 Ethernet cable vs. SOtM dCBL-Cat7. :D

G'day @austinpop

Did you ever get the chance to make this comparison?? Also interested in how the supra cat8 compares to the JSSG ET02? If you've had the chance to compare these I'd be very interested in your thoughts

Thanks

Since chinease hackers seems to have fun posting here on CA Rajiv might miss your post. I know he posted his comparences on his own thread. His results was Supra cat 8 and Ghent ET02 side-by-side and SOtM being the clear winner.

Personally I have’nt tried SOtM but to me Ghent ET02 was a clear winner over Supra cat 8. Go figure! ?

OK thanks @Cornan?. I have been interested to try some different Ethernet cables for a while. I am currently using audioquest pearl to my sms200. It is definitely better than standard cat 6 or some cat5e I had lying around. I have ordered a 1m length of supra cat8 to try between my switch and sms200. I'm hoping it will sound better than the audioquest pearl but I have been interested in the JSSG loop for a long time and have always wanted to try it ever since I read john's post last year, so it's good to hear different peoples opinions.... One things for sure - I am definitely looking forward to trying the new EtherRegen once john's finished with the design ??

With the JSSG ET02, do you think the metz connections are necessary? I think Ghent is offering a cheaper alternative for $20 less.

That’s great! Best thing for sure is to try it! ???

The secret is in the cable & JSSG. I have the Metz plug on all my ethernet cables. I very much doubt that they add anything to SQ, but the Metz plugs are surely extremely well made and sturdy. The other ones looks great as well so I think it is safe to say that they will very likely perform equally to the Metz.

Hey Cornan, how much were your HC-HPULN boards? I'm just waiting for Stammheim to come back to me with a price.

Hi mfin! They were roughly EUR190/board excl freight, but I would expect it to be a little bit higher upon release.

Quick question Cornan:  Will the Vbus2 be beneficial with a vanilla regular USB cable.?

PC-> USB cable->amber Regen (powered by 2xLT3045/Gophert)->USPCB-> dac (with no additional 5V injection),

Yes, it will most likely improve SQ!

Hi Brendan,

Sorry this question fell through the cracks.

Both the Supra Cat8 and the JSSG ET02 are excellent cables. The dCBL-Cat 7 does sound a tad better/smoother to me, but it's a small difference at a very high price differential. If cost is not an issue, the dCBL-Cat7 is an outstanding cable, but otherwise the Supra and the Ghent are great choices for bang/buck.

I haven't compared connectors, but I got mine with the Metz ones, and they are very sturdy.

No worries ?. Thanks for the advice ?.

I have just received my 1.0 length of supra cat8 to try. I replaced a 1.5m length of audioquest pearl between my netgear gs105 (JSGT powered by lps1)  and sms200 with the supra cat8.

With only 10 hours on the supra cat8 it is already a better cable than the pearl. The supra has a smoother presentation and there seems to be a harshness/edginess that has gone from brass instruments... The supra has a more relaxed feel and seems to have a more accurate timbre of all instruments. Nils lofgrens acoustic guitar, Tommy Flanagans piano, cannonball adderleys sax and miles Davis' trumpet all have a more natural tone/timbre. The end result is a more addictive and involving time listening to music ?.

I may have to replace my other 2 runs with supra.

Yup the Supras are great! I know one or two people who have bought spools of the stuff for long runs in their house.
