Sonore microRendu

+1. These comments are totally irrelevant. I hope I did not induce any of them by stating I was not interested in the software, and that there are plenty of good distributions out there - I did mention the point explained by John Swenson that the software is adapted to run the chip on the designed clock rate. So my comments were not meant to be derogatory or diminish the work done by Sonore - I just wish an option would be available to have a kind of DIY version at a lower cost without the software...if that makes sense to anyone (it does to me!).

Eloise, your comments are in fact very disrespectful and intentionally so.

I read them, they do come across a bit strong sometimes, but just ensure if you're using GPL / GPL 2 and modifying these, that you're following the terms with respect to commercialisation and distribution: no need to risk any sort of backlash on the brand. This is a must and it's quite easy to do, just rectify if you find after verification a need to.

If you want to know the origins of the F/L/OSS movements, a couple of good reads are 'For want of a printer driver' on Stallman who was at the MIT AI Lab at the time, and 'The Cathedral and the Bazaar' by Eric S. Raymond (who came up with the term 'Open Source').

I'm trying to put a price on it. Sincerely, I'd personally love for it to be in the $180-$250 price range, but depending on the amount of hardware and software work, I could understand if it's priced a couple of hundreds above as well.

Cheers!

Another way of looking at it: 400$ approximates the cost of a board + regen ?

True! I am one of those people with the not very expensive system...

I would suggest that a good source will improve any system. However, I understand that buying any gear a person decision.

It's not the same kind of device IMO. It is best used in a server-to-NAA configuration with HQ Player (at least, that's my perception of it).

NAA is a great output mode, but I have no reservations about recommending the other output modes.

Deleted, not worth the trouble.

Dev, this is a process and it takes time. Remember why we are here...because someone spilled the beans last year before we were anywhere near going to market with this product. What is it that you want to know? Also, Eloise's posts were not deleted...they were just moved to another thread in my sponsored section.

It's got to be $995 - $1600

Ha! Jesus' "cold" comment could be read two ways..... "cold" meaning Jud's 'The Price Is Right' tactics were ruthless/cold to poor me..... or, "cold" meaning we are both way off on our guesses. :)

Imitche,

Compare that to a high end Audiophile PC which would require multiple power supplies to shine, and probably wouldn't be as good in terms of sound quality. For example, 1) linear power supply for motherboard, 2) 5v linear power supply for SSD, 3) linear power for Paul Peng V4 or JCAT card, 4) Linear power supply for Regen or equivalent.

Instead of all that just one good power supply is required. This device has so many positive attributes...

My system here

Hi Jesus, it looks like you read my original post, even though it couldn't have been there longer than a minute or so. I'm sorry you read it, please forget I ever wrote it.

Good luck with this new product/project!
