Okay guys. Now for an the impossible mode challenge: Linear amplified, DSD-capable, NEW from DEALERS / DIRECT WITH WARRANTY complete system for $3k or less!

Here's my stab at it:

Speakers: http://www.decware.com/newsite/DM945.html ($1000)

Amp/Pre: http://www.musicalparadise.ca/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=93 ($700)

DAC: http://www.musicalparadise.ca/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=61&product_id=95 ($700)

Source: http://www.musicalparadise.ca/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=71&product_id=83 ($550)

Based on Decware speakers, highly sensitive, ribbon tweeters. Amp is auto-biased tubed, A/B. DAC is a good tubed output stage XMOS / AK4490 based DAC with native DSD decoding. Source is a mini-PC with linear power supply. Should be decent! Would be better with a tube-rectified amp but nothing like that cheap enough available new from Western dealers as far as I know.

I'd go with it. This took some research.

I likely had higher intelligence and was a high school dropout.

being a post graduate doesn't relate to intelligence, and even if it did, many people their age are living in poverty.

not sure of what point you are making here, or why you are replying to my post?  It doesn't agree nor disagree with what i said?...there really is no relevance?

@beerandmusic   I am in a very different place from GUTB, much older and not subject to the pressures he must deal with every day.   How people behave in internet forums is not a great indicator of what they are like in real life.

As for the foundation of success there is a division between the Left and the Right.  The Left will ascribe success mostly to the efforts of the government and luck.  The Right sees it mostly as Talent and risk taking.

I really don't think GUTB is a bad guy.  I really think he just isn't aware that things he says, in the way he says them, adversely affects people, or that he wouldn't be so persistent in his behavior.   Contrary to Jud's comment (e.g. people never change) that i gave him a thumbs up on for humor, i truly believe that there is hope for GUTB.

I never understood the LEFT and RIGHT thing, probably because I am in the middle.

What is Bernie Sanders?

It's a method for ignoring arguments you don't like, even if they actually make sense. The way it works is, you pick a side, left or right, doesn't matter which, and call it yours. Then, whenever you have knee-jerk negative reaction to anything, you can readily dismiss it by accusing the person saying it of belonging to the other side.

I really meant to figure the "left and right thing" out one day (I never really got into politics), but every time i tried i couldn't fit, so i quit trying to figure it out...i think i am more conservative, but i just couldn't pigeon hole myself.

I have never voted, figuring the one time I would, it would probably be for the antichrist, because I never trusted any politician....Bernie seemed like the first "likable" guy in my life where I was slightly compelled to vote, but i knew my vote couldn't make a difference.

Nice!

The closest in price I’m aware of for a tube-rectified amp is the Decware SE84UFO ($1000). Pair with those Decware speakers and you have $1000 left over for a streamer/source.

Why would anyone want tubes when silicon can do the same job?

BTW, how old is GUTB?  I didn't know there was anyone under 50 on this board (grin)....maybe his age explains a lot and we should be more forgiving (grin)...

i could see tubes if the entire system was analog....but they look cool...

I liked my audio research tube amp....if only it had banana plugs instead of those little screws and didn't take so long to warm up.
