Which build of HQPlayer Embedded is it?

Multicore DSP set to "auto"?

Yeah, but which build / package? On AMD CPU you should be using the AMD optimized build.

It is not in the web interface, because it is one of the settings to be set by the hardware manufacturer who knows what kind of hardware they are shipping HQPlayer Embedded on.

Check that Windows doesn't have more than one network interface active. In Control Panel go to Manage Network Interfaces, and then use the toolbar buttons to disable any extra interfaces.

Thanks!  That did the trick!  Is there a way to select the interface HQPlayer should use vs. disabling the ones currently no in use?

Whenever I update to a new hqp version I go into my hqp file and enter Uninstall and then install the new version. However sometime the hqp Uninstall command is missing there so  I goto Windows Control Panel and uninstall hqp from there. But uninstalling from Windows and then installing the new version Leaves out the library and settings data from the new hqp and it wont run. In the past Jussi showed me where these files are located so I could copy/paste from the old version into the new version. But I forgot where this was. one finds it by simply entering in windows explorer. Anybody know this location? Reason I need it is the Uninstall command is missing i my current hqp file.

I am not sure about the build. Using the default HQP Embedded that came with GentooPlayer.

I will install HQP Desktop in a fresh Ubuntu and let you know.

No luck.

@antonellocarli helped me install AMD build of HQP Embedded.  Problem with PCM 44.1 to DSD512 upsampling using Sinc-L filter did not go away.

Problem is present even on HQP Embedded AMD Image.

Only Sinc-L filter seems to have the problem. Sinc-M filter is working fine.

sinc-L to DSD512 is likely too heavy for CPUs and needs GPU offload.

For most CPUs, Yes.

I have a 12 core/24 thread CPU.  HQP is using only 3-4 Cores for Sinc-L to DSD512, where as Sinc-L to PCM 768kHz, HQP is using all 12 cores.  Is there a setting in HQP to configure it to use more than 4 cores for Sinc-L to DSD512?

No, both cases are using same number of cores. Difference is that load for DSD512 is roughly 32x higher than to 705.6/768k given same source. Once your audio output runs into stuttering you cannot anymore trust the load figures because the entire DSP pipeline is stalling all the time.

WIth sinc-L at DSD512, you are processing 32 million taps at 22.5/24.5 MHz sampling rate. That is quite a lot of processing. Compared to one million taps at 705.6/768k rate. Much more taps and much higher data rate to process.

OK Thanks.

I you dont mind, can you explain how did you calculate 32 mil taps, pl.?

FWIW, sinc-L to DSD256 is working fine.

Hi @Miska

i am trying to setup a machine to run both Roon and HQPLAYER

By your recommendation I’m trying this with Ubuntu server.
I managed to install Roon with a couple of easy commands, but can’t find a straight forward way to install HQPlayer.
I found an old guide from Nov 2018 by D Vaidya but even though I adjusted it to the latest build from Aug 15th, I am not able to complete the installation.
I am getting a message that there are several dependencies that are missing  (libomp, zip, unzip, hip-rocclr, rocfft, rocm-libs, rocm-device, hsakmt-roct)

can you please direct me to an easier approach to this installation?

many thanks

try

sudo apt install -f

That should install any missing dependencies.

No electron left behind.

Thanks, but that command just cleaned up the incomplete HQPlayer install and removed it from the machine.
tried to install again after this clean up but it still fails with all the missing dependencies

ok...

sudo apt autoremove --purge hqplayerd

wget

dpkg -i (what you just downloaded)

sudo apt install -f

done.

sudo apt install -f did not remove HQPlayer, it installs missing dependencies. This is exactly how I do it when a new version comes out.

finally, sudo reboot.

No electron left behind.

Thanks again.
I followed your steps but end up with same result.

Let’s take 1 step back here,

maybe I have the wrong build?

I downloaded the hqplayerd_4.25.1-84amd_amd64.deb

is this the right build for installing on Ubuntu server 20.04.2 LTS ?

Good for you 🙂

no. I’m using an Intel CPU

Ok, then yes you are using the wrong build, perhaps that is the problem here:

you want this one: https://www.signalyst.eu/bins/hqplayerd/focal/hqplayerd_4.25.1-83_amd64.deb

Second question I want to ask is, how are you ascertaining that HQPlayer is being deleted? ANd next, you don't need ROCM or HIP if you're not using an AMD GPU.

No electron left behind.

Ok

So now the installation seems to have succeeded but after I rebooted the machine I now get a UI of Ubuntu and not the standard terminal/command line as before.
Is that normal??

and how do I proceed from here? How do I launch HQPLAYER?

Attempting to reach the web interface from another pc doesn’t work

Did you accidentally install the desktop version of hqplayer and it pulled in the entire ubuntu desktop?
