I don’t think so since older versions of HQPlayer didn’t require 2 presses.

Hi, I have the same issue (need to hit play twice)...I thought it was just me. Hopefully a fix is coming!

I don’t OC my CPU and for the past year of so, I had been using a GTX 1050 Ti which was sufficient for the -2s filters, but with the decline of mining and GPU’s are much more reasonably priced, I got a RTX 2080 Super which allows me to use the non -2s variants of the XTR filters. I’ve not done a lot of testing between DSD128 and DSD256, but I don’t recall much difference in peak temps with the water cooler. But the fans on the cooler also spin up and down depending on temp so it might be self correcting. I also think temps are heavily dependent on ambient temps and so there are lots of factors at play here so YMMV.

Hi, just passing on my experience running the EC modulators with an i7 7700k. I found that the reason for my stuttering was due to high temps. For the past couple of years, I had a noctua heat sink with fan cooling the CPU and while this was fine using the non-EC modulators, it was not sufficient for EC. I saw that my temps reached 100 degrees which lead the CPU to throttle which resulted in the stuttering. Rather than building a new system with a higher end CPU, I decided to try a water cooler. The “all in ones” are pretty easy to install and I got one with a 360 millimeter radiator and now my temps are in the high 80’s max running ADSM7EC and no stuttering! And as an added benefit, it is extremely quiet. This works with red book, DSD64, and 192 kHz source all upsampled to DSD256. I also do convolution for room EQ, but that’s offloaded with CUDA. My DAC does not do DSD512 so I can’t test that. But in short, for less than $200, I was able to run EC and it sounds amazing! Enjoy!

Jussi, given the need for higher performing hardware (more heat/energy use) to run the new EC modulators, would it be possible to add a feature in HQPlayer that prevents windows from sleeping if HQPlayer is playing? Right now, it appears if I set the sleep timer to 5 minutes, the PC will sleep if I don’t touch the mouse or keyboard for 5 minutes regardless if there is load on the system or not...and hence I think somehow HQPlayer needs to prevent sleep if it is playing. I say “playing” and not open since it will be nice to resume from sleep with HQPlayer already open. Seems like the Windows 10 sleep algorithm does not check load on the machine. Thanks!

Wow! Is that what you see when running one of the EC modulators? I installed HWinfo64 and my results are similar to what I got using CPUID HWMonitor...basically 2200 for all 16 cores and on occasion, I'll get one or two cores that jump up to 2700 Mhz. Also, running ADSM5EC or ADSM7EC doesn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of the clocks shown. Thanks

Hi, I'm running Threadripper 1950X and trying to run the EC modulators to no avail...however, I notice that even when stuttering, my core speeds are around 2200 Mhz, well below the 3400 Mhz speed of the processor and its boost speed of 4000 Mhz. Is this a Windows issue? Has anyone tried to run the EC modulators on a Threadripper system on Linux? Or perhaps HQPlayers internal optimizations are tied to Intel processors?

That does seem to be the case. On my AMD 1950X system, there is stuttering using ADSM5EC and DSD256, but my i7 6700k works fine. Neither can do ADSM7EC. Will there be AMD optimizations down the road?

Thanks for sharing your experience...I too have a 1950X and have been trying to run the new EC options to no avail. Does anyone know if it’s more effective to upgrade the CPU or video card?

If using Vlc, there’s an option to adjust the delay so things are back in sync. A bit of trial and error, but it works!

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange issue with HQP 4.03 and 4.04 where my volume is very low. When I try to change the volume dial in HQP, it does not turn (although looking at the dial, it looks like it's already turned to the max/right, but I also cannot turn it down/left either). The only work around I can find to get back to "normal" listening volume is to change the min volume setting to -3 db (the same as my max volume). Anyone else experiencing this? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall HQP, but that does not correct the issue. Thanks, Hammer

Hi, I’m looping Spotify output into HQPlayer 4 with the new Input feature using Virtual Cable. I find that it works sometimes but not others and when it works (eg., I can hear music), the music sometimes stutters. When it doesn’t “work” (eg, no sound), the time counter does not change when I hit play in HQPlayer. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong...would someone have instructions I can follow on how to do this consistently? Thank you.

Hi, when using the new input feature of HPQ 4, what does the various bit rate options in the drop down box mean? I am using virtual cable to loop Spotify into HQPlayer. Finally, I can feed Spotify into HPQ! Thanks
