Like many of us, my introduction to Indian music in the 1960s was via Ravi Shankar, and I have loved this stuff ever since. He died yesterday, but left us two wonderful daughters whose work are also staples in my collection: Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones.

Just one sample story here.
Jazz legend Dave Brubeck has died at age 91. More details abound, like here.
I started accumulating a jazz collection when I was in high school, and one of the first albums I rushed out to buy when it was first released in 1959 was Brubeck's Time Out, featuring the immortal Take Five. Already this fine tribute vid has appeared today on YouTube:

you are still able to view your album cover work while a song is playing. i actually think this version better
because when you click on the small album cover when itunes is open the cover will pop up. and with this version you
can close itunes and still control your music right from the album cover art. you can drag the art
work any where on your screen and make it any size you like. i can close all of my players with
just the art work showing and still have control of my library. if yo

having ?
I recently made a change to my audio setup and was running through tracks to see if there was an appreciable difference. My process is to go through the same set of tracks that I use to audition and test everything. After this, I continued to select different tracks to continue to look for differences. Eventually I came to a track that I had not listened to in some time.
This track is Never Give All The Heart by the Chieftains off the Tears of Stone album. Anyone familiar with Jim Smit
I think I now know what Tom Lehrer was experiencing when Henry Kissinger got the Nobel Peace Prize.
I simply cannot parody this: http://www.machinadynamica.com
It is like trying to imitate a Scottish accent. (Even though genetically I should be capable of that.) It is so much more than mere words.
Where do I start?
Really big show (thank you Ed Sullivan) ... Anyway, if you're interested in the click-by-click, you might be best served by hitting up the Archive. Everything lists out there, in reverse chronological order. Enjoy.

I'm not much of a poster but am an avid CA reader. Have learned a lot from this site, and am very thankful.
I wanted to toss this one out to the CA community to see how many folks are in a similar boat as I...
I purchase as much music as I can from HD Tracks, but am also a child of the iTunes generation and have not been inclined for years to purchase whole albums unless I feel it worth it. As a result of this preference I find myself often compromising sound quality and defaulting to iT

Recently a trending topic on the many Apple web/blog sites has been the fact that few, if any, future Apple computers will come with built in optical drives. Even the iMac desktop home computer, where size and weight are not critical, will require an external optical drive to access disk media. This design decision by Apple is based on the certainly that 99% of data, including music and video will soon be purchased and transmitted over the net and stored in the cloud. CDs and DVDs will join t
Hi All,
I'm downloading some DSD files in anticipation of my new Benchmark DAC2 HGC. The thing is, I downloaded the files and they started playing in my current setup which includes the Musical Fidelity M1DAC, which IS NOT DSD CAPABLE. I look for some type of conversion in the software (Audirvana) and don't see any. The files sound great (Blue Coast Records-probably great source material), but I know it's not a true DSD playback. What am I getting? By the way, both the readout of Audirvana
This was an insanely huge show. 174 rooms and only 2.5 days to walk it. If you started at one end, chances are you'd only make it about half way by Sunday. It was nuts!
I blew through 95% of the show on Friday, just for pics. Sat was all longer sit-to's and I was gone by Sat night (family stuff).
Anyway, the reviews, pics and notes are coming, albeit slowly. I mean, this is a part-time gig, after all. More over time ....
Part-Time Audiophile goes to Denver: RMAF 2012.
I'm back! Sorry I haven't posted the last 2 Sundays; I've been away on a glorious, wine-soaked vacation. I thought about logging-on, and at least posting that I wouldn't be able to post...but this surely would have caught the wrath of my wife, and so I thought better of it.
So, for this week's ramblings...I can across an interesting "post" (don't ask me how...it must have been a Google of something that included the word audiophile, lol) that I felt warranted commenting on. I'm going to be t
