My external streamer through AES/EBU sounds better. Who will buy this thing if they haven't got the streaming part to sound as good as anything external? Link to comment

arcman
It sounds from the many posts on Audiogon, Roon and Audioshark that the Lumin T2 is a really special unit. I just wished it Costca little less. However, I’m tempted to wait a month or two and just get the T2. Roon, Qobuz and Tidal are 98% of my listening. I really do not need additional inputs. I rip any new SACD I purchase because my current Dac ( pro-Ject S2) sounds better than the Oppo 103 internal Dac. I could still keep the S2 for anything else I need or just use RCA outs on the oppo. tIANcI
The Mytek Brooklyn Bridge is a very nice unit. I upgraded to this from the CNX v2. Mine is paired with the Audia Flight FLS10, Cary Audio SLP-05 and the Marten Duke 2. It sounds very clear and transparent. Bass is pretty good but could do with a bit more mid bass as what Darko said when comparing with the Altair G1. The sound has more meat than the CXN, CXN sounds a bit recessed compared with the Mytek but to be fair, the Mytek costs double. Mytek’s DAC is ok. May not be as good as the Chord Qutest but it’s no slacker. Just that the Qutest is potentially quieter and more crip. Overall the Brooklyn Bridge is a great unit. Would I like it to sound smoother and more lush? Yeah but I need to pay around $4,000 - $4,500 to get that. But running it through the SLP-05 will give me that airy and holographic sound. 😬 Link to comment
audiovulture
The Mytek Brooklyn Bridge is a mixture of good and a pain-in-the-arse (PITA). I bought mine recently and loved what it APPEARED it could do, although $3K was quite a bit of change to get the features I wanted. I figured that for that amount of money and Mytek's apparent good reputation I couldn't go wrong. Overall, setting it up was a breeze until I tried to use a thumb drive with my high rez music on it. At that point it was a PITA. It still is even after a couple of months or so. First, there are two versions of MConnect, MConnect Player and MConnect Control. The MConnect Player is apparently more for the Apple OS and Control is for Android tablets. There is also the Lite version of each. Go to Conversdigital.com for specifics. I bring the up the above because I am trying EVERYTHING to make the dang BB's USB thumb drive visible on whichever of the versions I can. I can often see the BB (can play to) depending of some still unknown factors, although rarely can I see the thumb drive contents. The times I HAVE seen the contents it was hyper-slow even showing up; it took a few minutes. It's much worse at making a cameo when you have DSD files. On a rare occasion I HAVE been able to play the contents for the thumb drive, but I have yet to figure out how to do it more than a few times. Each thumb drive has been 32GB or smaller per Mytek's guidelines. I have tried the BB on two WIFI networks. It worked better on one (stay at that location occasionally) than it does my network where I usually stay. Both are fast, but the one I have had more trouble with is running at 500 mbs and I have no issues with anything else! I decided to eliminate WIFI and run an Ethernet cable directly to the BB. No real difference; it's intermittently successful even seeing the BB and even less so the thumb drive. I am beginning to think that the marriage between Mytek and MConnect is a rocky one AT BEST. In addition to all of this Mytek is well behind on their manual for the BB. There are a lot of functions not fully explained. For one, I cannot find "sync". What does the streamer "off/on/auto" really do? I was thinking that "auto" might shut off after some period of inactivity resulting in some of my frustrating making connections (thinking it was actually off). So, I leave it on. I assume that the USB driver is only for the PC and has nothing to do with whether an Android device can see a thumb drive. There are several functions where the manual is deficient. Lastly, I also have an iPad Pro as well as Android phones (S5 and an S9+) and the I-pad cannot see the thumb drive either! No drivers required for the Apple OS. I am still trying and hoping that this stuff get's fixed. Most difficult $3K I ever spent. Ben Link to comment

I hate it whilst using the mConnect and then you surf the internet to find that when you return to mConnect it’s exited the app. I still can’t find SYNC function too. Maybe it’s for the USB B only? Manual does not explain how all the filters work. Link to comment
audiovulture
tIANcI, I hear you. The BB was released before all of the bugs have been worked out. It is also disappointing that Mytek hasn't been forthcoming about this. If I hadn't inadvertently lost my box I would have returned it. Best, Ben Link to comment

57gold
I'm pretty sure some will say this a dumbass question, but if the shoe fits, you got to wear it. I think I'm streaming audio using my B+ and Mac Mini with Amazon Prime, only the 2 million free tunes, not paying for the 50 million tunes. Realize that it's not CD quality but like mp3. Connect to internet by wifi. It works and sounds decent, use it to learn tunes to prepared for a gig or jazz lesson. So, why do I need another piece of gear to stream, say a Rendu or a Bridge? Guessing I could hook up Mini by ethernet to wifi router for more bandwidth...but I'm not getting skips or dropouts, at least with what Amazon sends me. I have a huge aversion to more boxes...no preamp, do have a LPS for B+ and amp. Have resisted audiophile angst related to Regens, Eitrs, iFi USB gizmos...Spend plenty of hard earned dough on guitar gear, but am even lightening the load in that regard, with 3 primo vintage guitars for sale and using only a very small board with smaller tube amps. audiovulture
You don't need anything if you are happy with 2,000,000 songs played at less than CD quality. Most audiophiles don't need, they want. Like me. One thing you can do I add Bluetooth capability to your B+ DAC for about $200 and stream other services from your phone. Link to comment
57gold
AV - So if I tried a full or high def streaming service over wifi, I'd get stuttering and dropouts or other forms of distortion? Have 2,400 CDs ripped to HD - Jazz, Blues, Rock...so I have plenty to listen to. Not enough time is my problem. Tone with Soul Link to comment
audiovulture
That depends on a few things: 1) file size (BASIC MP3 versus FLAC or other higher-rez formats). 2) wifi speed 3) playback rez setting(s) 4) interference 5) Distance from router Link to comment
bmoregnr
Can you attach something like a small 2T Samsung T5 SSD and control it with this alone via WiFi network and say phone app? I guess I’m confused why a flash drive would be limited to 32gb. The introductory video seems to say you can control a portable hd that way but I’m probably missing something. Link to comment
audiovulture
Greetings, I didn't connect an outboard drive. I don't even use them because thumbdrives are so inexpensive and even 32 MB is still a lot of music. Nothing in the manual? Best, Ben Link to comment
