As they are single tag why should you split the name? Single tag is a single string, whatever it contains … 

@Marcin_gps afaik there are single item tags like

• Album
• Album Artist
• Composer
• Conductor
• Orchestra/Ensemble
• Date
• Release date

and there are multi item tags like

• Artist
• Genre
• Style

A multi item tag should be shown as

Artist:

• artist a
• artist b
• artist c

A single item tag should be shown as a single string.

And this should be true for all tags regardless of content

….

players like Audirvana, JRiver, HQPlayer do it as described and Minimserver too

….

Many servers do not return multiple tags for artists, composers and genres. They join artists, genres and composers in a single tag. To get rich data, the app should be able to split the content of the singletags. In order to support both ways of indexing data, in the next version user will be able to "tell" the app how he wants the app to deal with data.

So much for the extended trial period.  I just received a receipt from the Apple store acknowledging my purchase of JPlay.  I will honor this hoping that the promised changes/improvements take place.  However, thus far a very disappointing experience -- no fixes so I can actually perform a trial using my lumin streamers.  So I have had an essentially useless trial period.  You have to do better than this!!

For multitag artists, we can assume that the information already came splitted from the server and don't do anything on our side, assuming that each tag contains only an artist. In the next version it will be possible to indicate in the app if the server uses multitag for artists. But for tags like composers, albumArtist, that are a single tag, we will have to split the artists, and if you use artists with comma in their names, it will be a problem.

When playing DSD64, when switching from PCM, the DAC has a lot of trouble to latch onto the stream. At least 5 relay clicks later then settles down to play the album. Oh, dang, this is a new install, forgot the settings for gapless playback are at default, switched all these on and update time to 1 and the behavior:

 

Initially when loading the album, 1 relay click

Let the album play through, no clicks

FF one track, 1 relay click

 

Any ideas to remove the relay clicks? I could live with the initial loading, but not the others.

Update for build 22.

Have only used for the last 24 hours, no crashes, very stable from that point of view.

No playback operating.

In the settings for MinimServer, there's a rescan command (which works immediately btw), a message appears rescan refresh successful (something like that), message is green, but Minimserver is still restarting in the background. If new data is synchronised from the command, there's an error, in that no data can be synced. This is due to Minimserver restarting and not yet running. Perhaps grey out the sync data out commands until Minimserver is in the running state. Once Minimserver is running, the data synchronises no issue.

I see the Album view sorting system working, added a new album, it's there in search but doesn't appear at the top of the list.

DSD clicking is much the same as before the exception now is the excessive hunting for the DSD stream at the beginning to reset the DAC is now gone, just the one relay click, and music starts. I could live with this.

Build 22 installs fine, so if your JPLAY for iOS is working, just install the new one over the top when @Marcin_gps releases the new build.

Lumin detection is the same as with build 20, no issues. @wklie advises the new Lumin app release will enhanced JPLAY for iOS playback, a double surety, that all will work fine. Much appreciated there!

Look, JPLAY for iOS is only a control point so it shouldn't get in the way of playback between Minimserver and Lumin, but I swear the sound is more open that it has ever been.  That will send the objectivists nutz, but it is what it is.

Marcin has a small group of beta testers, to improve the app for everyone without having everyone test and get frustrated.

After an album played out, JPLAY usually stops, no music. Well, music was still playing from a different album, similar genre, unlike Roon which can play rock, then classical. Will look for the setting later, if it exists.

On December 13 (page 7 here, a few posts above your first post in this thread) Marcin asked Lumin users to send him a PM.  If you did that you'd have access to the test builds of JPlay app.

I did this but he told me he had enough beta testers and didn't provide anything.  I also believe he said that he would extend the trial period, but never did.  I would never do business like this.

I assure you, if you developed an app, you would cap the number of beta testers.

Why do people keep making excuses for what is clearly poor business practice.  We were told that the trial would be extended, but I was just charged $49 for buying the app, which has been useless to me.   Compare this with the exemplary responsiveness of Peter and Lumin.  You should note that although I am now retired, I was involved in product development for both online and in-store products.  If I acted like this, I would have been fired.

I have been involved in extensive beta testing.  In pre-product beta testing, of course you would cap the number of users.  However, once a product is released and you have what you believe to be a workable fix (as Marcin told me in the email), you give the person that fix to try out.  This has been the policy of Audirvana, Lumin and many other companies.  Marcin did not do this, and told me the fixed release would appear shortly -- it obviously has not.  People keep saying "after Christmas" and "after New Year".  Maybe should qualify this by stating which year they are talking about?  And note that the developer has been non-existant recently on this forum to respond to these issues.  Is this also acceptable?

steveoat, perhaps your expectations are a bit different than many of us. Marcin is likely taking a bit of time off to spend with his family over Christmas and New Year's holidays. 

I'm much more inclined to encourage a developer and support a developer who offers a product that I believe the market really needs, rather than get irate over a $50 purchase that isn't perfect and wasn't updated immediately. If everyone responded like you, I know I wouldn't develop an app for public release. People aren't perfect and can't meet everyone's expectations. A little grace and encouragment goes a long way. 

Also, comparing an app that has been available for one month, to apps with over a decade of availability and much larger teams working on them, is a bit over the top in my view.

I'm only speaking for myself here, but perhaps you aren't the first person I'd supply with a beta fix. Your expectations can't be met without perfection.

I'm also impatient and I don't like unfair dealings (that's why I left Euphony after all when they changed their license policy and laughed at the existing license holders), but I don't see it as tragic here and I'm enjoying the hitherto unknown sound from my audioPC.

We can't add every user to Beta because there is a limit imposed by apple. Trial will be extended after the release with fixes. There is no point on extending trial period for app build with the same bugs.

We already uploaded the build with fixes to App Store. It is waiting for the review
