Musicophile
ECMs new releases are always worth watching. This is my latest addition: Elina Duni Quartet: Matane Malit The young (born 1981) singer and composer, Elina Duni, emigrated at the age of 10 from Albania to Switzerland. This is her first full album sung in Albanian (most of her past work was in English) and also her first on ECM. Could be qualified as Jazz or World music, she sings beautifully over sparse Jazz Piano Trio arrangements. Extremely well recorded. The beautiful cover very much captures the atmosphere of this amazing music. Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

Boris75
Bach's Cello Suites. First: Tunnicliffe in 24/192. Very well recorded, but the breathing of the cellist is very well recorded as well... Second:Wispelwey 3, XLD rip of redbook CD. Recording quality is good (a good thing about the fact that it is less detailed than the above recording is that there is less breathing to be heard). Bottom line: I very much like Tunnicliffe's playing, in spite of the breathing, while I found Wispelwey's sound to lack fluidity and his tempi often way too fast. In the end, I could not stop listening to Tunnicliffe while I could not stand Wispelwey for more than fifteen minutes. I think Wispelwey's idea of lowering the pitch to 397Hz could work if he accepted to slow down a bit and let the sound play out. But the combination of this low pitch and super-fast tempi means that on many (most?) notes I could hear the attack but not the note itself. Link to comment
89reksal
Butthole Surfers - Independent Worm Saloon (1993) Probably more of a love it or hate it choice but a worthwhile, maybe necessary, listen if you like harder rock. Big mistake to judge based on band name alone. I bought this when it first came out and thought it could be the "heaviest" music I had ever heard. It's lost nothing in the years since it's release. Play LOUD! Link to comment
