PSA: Be Careful Dealing With Uptone Audio

This thread would fill out to the length of "MQA is Vaporware" if it contained posts from all the people who've happily used UpTone products without incident for years, and for whom Alex has gone above and beyond (shipping products sooner than promised, for example). It is obvious even from the packaging and packing of the products that care and thought go into effective but inexpensive means of doing the job well. The few times that I've seen posts from people who may have a problem (often not even confirmed, but maybe), Alex is always extremely prompt and pleasant in asking the customer to send in the unit for examination and repair or replacement.

 

As a glance at the UpTone forums on this site will quickly show, the experience of the vast, vast majority of UpTone customers is 180 degrees contrary to the picture Mikey8811 is trying to paint.

The photos remind me of a former client of the law firm years ago who took out a magnifying glass and mirror to show an otherwise invisible tiny scratch on her nose while complaining her “best feature” had been ruined.

If you purchased a used car that still carries manufacturer warranty it's what I would expect. But then again I've never read the fine print on new car warranty.

The screws are small, and even new ones can sometimes have small amounts of paint/anodize come off during installation.

Your points are correct. I was adding the fact that they are small enough that the loss of a small amount of paint or anodizing might not be apparent except under magnification.

Yep - Alex knew that’s what he was taking on when he made the warranty transferable, but that’s the way he prefers to do business.

Again if I was Alex and saw that the wrong voltage was applied, and I wanted to be nice about it, I would have sent another unit, letting them know that the failure was due to something other than manufacturer defect, and let them know that there was no warranty and the repair was gratis.

 

 

I’ve dealt with both Alex and car companies, and given the choice, I wouldn’t pick the car companies.  😀
