rettib2001
Out of interest, has anybody been in communication with Paul over the last month? The last couple of emails I've sent asking for a quick update regarding completion/delivery of an SR4 purchase from the November batch haven't had replies. I know he's got a lot going on in both his professional, and from what I gather, personal life but I wouldnt mind knowing what's going on. Cheers Link to comment

Cheers I too am waiting for two SR4's from the November batch. Not much of a consolation I know, but it is sometimes good to know it is not just you. I had an email from Paul earlier in the month, he expects to be fully back on track with the SR4's in February, so it should be a relatively short wait from now. rettib2001 1 Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade. Dutch
Anyone know where your order would end up now (March, April, May, ...) if you would order today and which months batch SR4’s he is sending out right now (if any)? System details Link to comment

Same question. I’m awaiting a reply to an email to Paul sent the other day. Btw, any thoughts about whether to go with the copper or silver cable? My interest in the SR4 is to hook into an iFi SPDIF iPurifier. It’s on the end of a beautifully warm Purist Audio Neptube coax run from a modified Oppo 203 to a DirectStream dac. The iFi connection requres a micro USB connector, which I’d need for the SR4 cable or have to go with the cheap adapter I have now (2.5 mm to micro USB adapters are not readily available). For the moment, I have an old Audio Tech Kora LPS hooked to the iFi, which is both telling me the SQ possibilities of a better LPS, while also the potential downside of the wrong one - much less warmth and a dry sound that make everything seem like it was tuned in a different key. I cannot answer the above question, but as a bit of a clue I can advise that I ordered my SR4's in early October, they were in the "end of November" batch, due for delivery early December. Popular Post jeroennn
The past few months I've been reading welcome updates on the SR4/SR7 from quite a few of you. Now I can give you an update of my own. Last Friday I received my SR4 from the September batch. It's breaking in now and supplying my microrendu with apparently wonderful power: music is already more alive, more dimensional and fluent. Very happy with that! And quite relieved too, as I accidentally and foolishly powered the sonore with 12v for the first 20 seconds. Seems genuinely frying the unit takes even more stupidity and lack of sleep than I mustered fortunately Paul mentioned in an email last week that "SR4 production should be up to date by the end of the month". I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it sounds like production is normal again on his windy Scottish island. I know quite a few words have been written on the production delays and communication. From what I can make out, the recent accumulation of mishaps is not normal. I received a couple of updates and always kind and polite answers from Paul. He's a gentleman of honesty and integrity. It's not a pick-off the shelf Amazon-order though, but that gets you a quality niche-product. highstream
Nice to hear Paul is clearing back orders. I’m on the April list...and hoping. In the meantime, I’ve been surprised how well a Core Audio Tech Kora LPS that I formerly used on my desktop system with a JCAT card has done powering an iFi spdif iPurifier between a modded Oppo 203 and a Directstream dac. Mine is two weeks old and there doesn't appear to be any noticeable difference. Maybe there is but my human brain can't remember how it sounded out of the box. Besides loudspeakers physically loosening up I always wondered how much of the perceived change is burn in and how much is our ears adapting. But we don't want to go ''there'' (again) now do we? Give it at least three to four weeks, alternating with some down time. I have a piece that's still improving at two months. Also, the Audio Bacon review noted that the power cord used with the SR4, and where it is plugged in, made a big difference. That aside, equipment being sufficient, it really involves one's sense of pitch. That is, to what degree is one's sense of relative pitch absolute, so to speak, independent of "getting used to it." From having been around music from a young age and played classical piano for a number of years growing up, I'm somewhat lucky in that regard, but we all vary, and some have a much better sense than mine. rettib2001
I'll report back with initial impressions soon.... But I've just moved house so I'd like to get acclimatised with my new room acoustics before swapping components. That would be the sensible thing to do but after this long wait I'm becoming a bit impatient to get 'stuck in'. Jiffi32 1 Link to comment

Confused
I set my SR4's up at the weekend. One issue that I had relates to space on my rack. They are now in my rack, but currently the two SR-4's are stacked one on top of the other. Does anyone know if this is an issue or not? In time, I may be able to change things around and have the units side by side. I am just not sure if it actually matters? One point to note is that they do not seam to be running too hot, so I do not think cooling is an issue. As an aside, they look quite nice stacked, so this aspect is definitely not an issue. Any thoughts? Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade.
