JPLAY for iOS Is Now Available

Hi Guys, just a quick update. The UPnP control point app I've been using for seemingly ever, is now available in the App Store! I love this app and vow to never install mconnect on my iPhone or iPad again :~)

I know @Marcin_gps and his team have been working to perfect the app for a long time. I'me very happy to see this come to fruition.

The app is well worth the $49.99 /yr price.

    Much more to come.

after the start of the Qobuz synchronization, the application crashes, the same when trying to synchronize the Minimserver - the synchronization is not completed on either platform. I'll leave the other attempts for the evening. On my iPad and on iPhone too

We detect that for bigger libraries Qobuz, there is a step in sync that can lead to an app crash. We are working on a fix(it seems to be fixed by now but more testing is needed) that should be available in the next few days.

@mnuno10 @Marcin_gps just realized that total album/tracks shown in the home page are less (-8/-24 albums/tracks) than what is shown in the By folders/Minimserver root page

Is there any log of the scan task that can be investigated?

I will add some more logs to easily understand what albums can be missing and also enable/disable some logs as required, because if you log all the responses from the server to sync your library it will produce a huge file.

Good news:  The new version has found the JRiver server, allowed me to index it, and has found it again over several iPad reboots and app restarts.  Because of that, I don’t have display anomalies with multi-disc sets.

Bad news:  Removing a server continues to crash the app.  Running an update also crashes out the app. In both cases, I am dumped back to the desktop.  In the latter case, I have to do a full scan in order to add a single album to the collection.  In the long run, that isn’t acceptable.

I know my use case isn’t typical. I have almost 23,000 albums and about 185k tracks in an aggregation of digitized vinyl, ripped CD’s, and downloads of various resolutions that I began accumulating almost 60 years ago. I also worked at a company that markets digitized music and it was easy to obtain music from my employer at a good price, as well.  So my library is pointlessly huge. I have upgraded thousands of MP3’s by replacing them with larger and higher resolution FLAC and DSD’s.  To be certain, I am more of a music hoarder than collector, but, in any event, I acknowledge that indexing and managing my collection can’t be easy for a music manager app.  In fact, JPlay wouldn’t be the first such app that my library has brought to its knees.  With indexing occurring on the iPad in addition to the server, scalability in an app like this always is going to be an issue.  I hope JPlay can fix this, but I wonder to what degree we are bumping up against mobile device hardware limitations with a library of this size.  If I were Marcin and Mario, I would just take the position that the product isn’t intended for collections above a certain size and focus my attention on making the app work better for the 99% of the population with more manageable libraries.

We found some more bottleneck that can appear when syncing huge libraries. We are working on improve it. Contact us through our support email("[email protected]") so we can help you with this and also your JRiver's detection issue.

    How did you get it?

Adding "Comment.displayFormat={$*infoFileURI^<a href="^">Digital booklet</a>$comment}" to tagFormat will allow you to see booklets for albums in the app.

How to force another Qobuz account on JPLAY app? I deleted the application, I deleted the Qobuz passwords stored on the iPhone and in the browsers, the iPhone restarted and even after reinstalling it does not want to enter the name of another account and the password, it still fills in the previously saved one from somewhere

p.s. in 1.0.2 version I have no problem with my Qobuz account and synchronization

As I’m already using Comment tag for other purposes I defined

    “Booklet.displayFormat={$*infoFileURI^<a href="^">booklet</a>$booklet}”

and set in indexTag Booklet tag

where booklet (in bold) should correspond to the booklet.pdf file in the album folder

… but I cannot find any app view in which this information is available

That's odd. You should get an pdf icon button near "Add to Queue" button in albums with pdfs.

Also in "Now Playing" -> "About the Track" section(swiping up in full screen player).

Can you enable logs, navigate to a folder with pdfs and send me the log?

From the logs your server is not returning any pdf.

    But I notice that you have "Booklet.displayformat..." try "Comment.displayFormat={$*infoFileURI^<a href="^">Digital booklet</a>$comment}".

"Booklet.displayformat..." you get from where? I can't get any reference to it.

For me the prior version was able to open pdf files. -- I would click on the icon and the pdf files would open for my local albums (version 1.02). However, with the newest version I can see the icon for the pdf file but when I try to open it I get the error message "Requested resource could not be found".  I am currently using version 1.03.  By the way, pdf files open fine from Qobuz

    I believe it is. It should read: Comment.displayFormat={$*infoFileURI^<a href=&#x22;^&#x22;>Digital booklet</a>$comment}

The booklet icon should appear to the right of the “play” and “add queue“ buttons on the selected album page.

It should work the same in the new version. Your server is accessible? App does not store pdfs, so it will only opens pdfs when server is reachable. Or the path to the file has changed, in that case you have to sync data again.

@steveoat @Herman17 since I was able to setup the right configuration in Minimserver I have no issues to access pdf liner notes with JPlay 1.0.3

Have you tried with a Minimserver rescan and a library reload in JPlay?

Hi, on Jplay iOS 1.03 Audio format for Minimserver aren’t displayed when I want to use Filter on « My Library ». Only Qobuz audio formats are displayed. For example if I want to focus Minimserver and sample rate 96kHz I get « No result ».

    I’ve uploaded the log file.

I have playlists on Qobuz freezing during playback. Restarted app  several times and different plays lists. After several songs it just freezes with spinning gear and error message about renderer.

    @mnuno10 quite the same here.

In my Minimserver library there are 1039 albums 24/96

    .

while filtering by sample rate 96 from My library

    24/96 albums are only 7

That's pretty interesting. Even though I have  hundreds of hi-res albums, the only filters available to me are CD, 16 bit, and 44.1khz.  I can't use the filters to find 24-96 files.  (At the moment, the library is JRiver, which magically reappeared as a server long enough to be indexed, and not minimserver.)

@stefano_mbpI'm quite sure that the 7 albums which are displayed are albums you have played (entirely or partially) since JPLAY iOS is installed, isn't it?

No, never played them since JPlay was installed

Ah Ok, by my side I've just noticed sample rate (e.g. 176.4kHz) is added just if I click on an album with this resolution without playing it. I can get audio format too. Concerning sample rates only sample rates of albums I've clicked are displayed in local network library too and when I filter a sample rate only albums I have clicked appear.

friends because still in version 1.03. JPLAY app I'm having problems with Qobuz (my library won't sync and the app keeps crashing) so I'm playing Qobuz using mConnectHD. Honestly, maybe this is just a temporary solution, because the difference in sound quality between the JPLAY app and mConnectHD is so significant (when using ConnectHD, fine details disappear and the recording space is not good either), so I hope that the problem of the large Qobuz library will be quickly resolved with the JPLAY app.

Bug should be fixed. Build has being tested and we plan to release it at the beginning of next week.
