Musicophile
One of the albums I go back very often these days because it is so beautiful, and tough competition to my other favorite collection from Kremer/Argerich. Plus it is very well recorded. Isabelle Faust / Alexander Melnikov: Beethoven Violin Sonatas This time I listened to no. 5 and 10. Musicophile
@Richard: You're welcome! Back to topic: Beethoven: Eroica - Rattle - Berlin My favorite symphony in this cycle, and one of my favorite Eroica interpretation, nearly HIP (as much as the Berliner can be), very fast, but extremely energetic. wkhanna
Last week's treasure hunt produced some real 'keepers'. These ProMo's made early in the production run were some of the best pressings & were then distributed to radio stations by the record companies. Some may think, "radio station records must be in poor shape with so much play time". Not so. Typically, only one track would be played from the disc. Additionally, the typical radio station had excellent equipment that was V well maintained. And the discs were treated with respect, cleaned before & after each spin, then replaced to a proper storage area. Sadly, this one suffers from some slight warping which I can deal with later. Otherwise, the condition is wonderful & the sound is amazing. The dynamics are stunning with backgrounds black as Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal. Much more involving than the redbook rip I already have, which on its own is no slouch, this LP will make an excellent rip. Bill Practicing Curmudgeon & Audio Snob ....just an "ON" switch, Please! wkhanna
Another worthy rescue.... Fairly close-miked, still with decent room reverberation, this was nice effort engineering wise. Sadly not quite up to the standard I prefer for ripping due to some significant surface noise most likely generated from improperly adjusted or worn equipment. Regardless, it has taken me to a new place & I am enriched because of it. Bill Practicing Curmudgeon & Audio Snob ....just an "ON" switch, Please! Link to comment
89reksal
UB40 - Signing Off (1980) First album by UB40. Was issued as a double LP. Pretty unusual for a first release by a band. I'd say this was quite different from their subsequent, more well known releases. Link to comment

Have this LP and MoFi SACD also, both terrific. One never knows, do one? - Fats Waller The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious.
